Can someone explain the pack n' play sheets, etc?

I know they make sheets for the bottom part of the pack n' play, is there anything else I will need? Are there pads or sheets or anything for the changer area and do I need some kind of mattress pad for the bottom part of the pack n' play? We plan on using it as a bassinet in our room for a few months and I want to make sure we're ready.

  • You'll most likely want a waterproof pad under the sheet...new babies tend to be very 'leaky' from both ends  Stick out tongue  I had a waterproof pad on the changing part as well folded up, just in case he peed while I changed him.

  • You do not need any extra pads or mattress pads for the bottom part of the bassinet, but the plastic on the changer can get cold, so if you wanted to you could use washable lap pads to lay on there so as not to startle baby with the cold.?

    ?

  • I used a large lap pad under the sheet for wet throughs... and I also doubled everything, so if he wet through at nite, I could strip one set, and have another all ready to go.  Good luck!

  • I actually bought a quilted PNP sheet at ToysRus(im sure they are at BRU too) and its pretty padded i think...they did have little pads for the changing area on the PNP's too.
  • I bought 2 PnP sheets and I'll just use a sheet saver or receiving blanket on the changer.

  • I don't know what all you "need" but we got a couple sheets just because the mattress thing on it isn't very soft.  But I don't think a mattress pad is necessary.  I found a little changing pad thing that is the same size of the top changing area (came in a pack of 2) and super soft.  I think we'll use that just because it's so much softer than the plastic that is on there.

  • I got a waterproof pad/mattress pad sort of thing for it and two sheets which i think 2-3 should be enough as long as you do laundry often.  I couldn't find any covers for the changing area so i plan on just putting a receiving blanket down and boppy makes these changing pad protector things (they come in a 3 pack) and they are the exact size and shape of the changer and are terry cloth with plastic on the bottom.

I bought a package of 2 pads especially made for the pack and play changer, they were sold right where the PnP sheets were.

  • THe pack an play sheet are for the big pad that goes in the bottom.  Depending on your pack n play it will either use the same big pad on the top for the bassinet or give you an extra piece to use for the bassinet.  The extra pieces do not have a sheet you just use like one of the pads or something to but down.  we used a recieving blanket on ours and it was fine.
  • I just discovered a changer area cover the other day while at BRU.  I'm going to wait until later this week to buy one because I'll have a 15% off coupon,

I didn't think of the waterproof pad underneath because I guess I thought the "mattress" itself is waterproof...have to look into that one.

  • I am pg w/ my 1st, but I registered for pack and play sheets & also the pack and play changing pads, etc.  They make all the stuff you are asking about, so there must be a use for it (that's my logic anyway).  The other girls have great insight as to how to make due without buying all that stuff though...
  • Good question! I'm probably not going to use the bottom part of the pack n play for awhile, so I haven't invested in sheets yet. My girlfriend recommended laying one of those flannel waterproof mattress pads (without the elastic sides) on the bassinet area, though.
