Pregnant after a Loss

Hey - I saw your post about Maternity leave.  Don't you get the standard disability for NJ?  I know Through the state I get 4 weeks before unless baby comes early than you lose it and 6 weeks after plus the 6 week FMLA the NJ is offering now to bond with your child without taking any vacation time.  So right now i'll be taking 16 weeks total before i touch any vacation time.  Although i'm not sure my boss can afford to have me gone more than that so i might have to come back after that. 
10/17/2009 - Our Miracle came 10 weeks early. IF,2 MC and 1 Preemie we have our miracle.. Baby Hope 10 weeks 5days was taken from us on Dec 18, 2007. Forever with us and Forever missed. Triplets Lost baby A @ weeks, Lost Baby B at 6 weeks and lost baby Abigail at 14 weeks when she was born to little for this life..... Forever with us ....

  • hey there.  i spoke with HR the other day and she didn't mention anything about the 4 weeks before hand.  but one of my friends has that from working in nj.  i'm not sure about it though.  i think i should bring it up though because HR just might not be aware.  My entire company is mostly in NYC, so she probably isn't even thinking about the nj leave.  My company policy though is 12 weeks of parental leave that starts on the day that the baby is born.  thanks for bringing this up though...i need to check on it again!!

  • Hey - The 4 weeks before and 6 weeks after is standard Disability though NJ but, it's only paid at 66% and than the FMLA 6 Weeks is new the new law that they just passes that also only payes you at 66%.  Ask your Hr about it but, if  your comapny has there own policy in effect if they pay you a 100%.

  • oh...ok.  i think my company may have just adoped their own policy because we get 12 weeks 100% pay from the day that the baby is born and they call it Parental Leave.  if the dr writes me out before my due date though i get s/t disability, also at 100%.  then anytime i want to use outside of that is my vacation.  i have 4 weeks accumulated from this year though that they are letting me carryover.  then next year i'll also get another 4.5 weeks.  so i could really take up tp 20 weeks with full pay if i wanted to use my vacation.  i shot HR and email though to double check on that nj disability thing though.  this is all so confusing though b/c everybody says something different.
