which clothes brands do you love?

I know already that I hate Gerber brand clothes, because I received a few pieces as gifts and they all shrunk up to doll-size.  Carter's seem to be pretty good quality.  What about others? Gap? Children's Place? Gymboree?

Re: which clothes brands do you love?

  • I haven't gotten to "use" them yet, but so far I love Gymboree. I have gotten the cutest stuff at really great prices (on clearance and then on clearance with gymbucks), and the quality seems high. The only hard part has been trying to guess what size she will be in what season, but I left the tags on a lot of the older stuff so I can return them if necessary. I also have a lot of Carter's stuff and it seems to be good quality as well. Another brand I have bought so far is Old Navy. Again, I bought stuff on sale or clearance, so I won't be too upset if the quality is not very high.

Can you believe how close we're getting? I'm trying to finish up some last minute things and enjoy the last bit of pregnancy, but I can't wait to meet her. Hope you are doing well!

  • My all time favorite (right now) is Boden, however, it is crazy expensive.  Way too expensive, but so, so cute.

I think that Janie & Jack clothes are great and excellent quality, but I do like Gymboree a lot as well.  DS used to wear tons of Gymboree sleepers b/c they are so long and skinny and that was all that would fit him properly.

I don't think that we have had many Gap clothes, so I don't know much about them.  We do have a lot of Old Navy stuff and they seem to hold up, but do shrink sometimes.

    Nothing to see here....
  • I love Carter's, children's place and janie and jack (pricey but good sales).

  • Haven't used anything yet of course, but just based on style I love Gap, some Old Navy, Janie and jack (sales!), and a like a lot of independent eco friendly or modern brands (Tea, Kicky Pants, etc).  I don't care for Gymboree, Children's Place, etc.
  • I love Gymboree, BabyGap, Janie & Jack, Tea Collection, and Zutano.

  • I agree with pp's. I love Hanna Andersson's girl clothes!  I could spend a fortune there, easily.

Maybe if this baby is a boy, I will love their boy clothes just as much-who knows?

  • I have the best luck with Carter's.  I won't buy Gerber or Gymboree because they don't fit DS right.  I have a few Gap things that have been good.  I've had good luck with the BabiesRUs brand and Target brand clothes, too.

I really have tried not to spend a lot of $ on clothes.  I just buy what I need to get buy as he grows of things.  He wears onsies and shorts/pants most days and a onsie to bed.  (He wore a lot of sleepers when he was born since it was Feb and cold).  He grows of them SO FAST!  DS is 5 1/2 months old and I've already bought and put away Newborn, 0-3 months and 3-6 month size clothes!  He's now in 9 month size clothes.  I almost can't keep up with cleaning out his drawers and packing stuff away.

  • I really like Baby Gap and Gymboree when they're having sales.  Otherwise I get most of Ava's clothes at The Children's Place and Old Navy.  While I don't love Old Navy's quality for adult clothes, their kids stuff seems to be ok.  I feel like Ava wears each item *maybe* three or four times before she grows out of it, so I try not to spend too much on her clothes.  We do have an outlet mall near us, and their Osh Kosh store has a ton of clothes -- great quality, too.

Possibly, but I'm just going by style ;)

  • Baby Gap, Nordstrom's, Gymboree and Janie & Jack......

BUT.......I don't like a ton of Gymboree's stuff for boys. I hate trucks and all that junk on the boys clothes and a lot of Gymboree's boys lines have all that junk on it, so its hit or miss for me.

I like some Old Navy stuff......but beware, their stuff runs small and the necks and sleeves seem to be tight.......

Janie&Jack has great stuff, but again, sometimes its too "charactery" (I don't think thats a word!) for me.

Someone mentioned Boden....love their stuff.....but it is definitely pricey.

I may not be great to take advice from b/c I like really "plain" stuff for DS (i.e. plaid shorts, plain polos, striped shirts, etc.....)

    GL!

Gotcha! There is a Janie and Jack by me, but so far I have avoided going in there because I'm afraid I'll spend too much. I know they have good sales too, but I don't need another store to get addicted to, and I already have a ton of baby clothes. I did just check out their web site though, and it seems to have more classic, vintage looking clothes and soft colors than Gymboree. Is that fair to say?

  • I love Carter's for fit!  My favorite hands down.

We don't have a baby Gap near us.

I don't like Old Navy stuff for the most part.

And I spend way too much money in Gymboree and Children's Place so I tend to avoid them lol.

  • I despise Carters, but it is more the overcrowded, not stroller friendly stores I hate! : )

I really like gap, old navy, ralph lauren, childrens place and gymboree. I never  buy retail, though, I buy consignment and thrift!

I agree with this, plus I LOVE Gymboree.  Their stuff is so cute!  Baby Gap always seems to run small to me.  Gerber is pretty cheap, but I think it's actually GREAT for newborns.  You just have to bear in mind that everything is a whole size smaller than what it's labeled.  So, NB is preemie, 0-3 is NB, etc.  Great for when you have to change a onesie 5x a day, and nice zippered sleepers, too.  Once they're older, don't bother.

  • Carter's and Gymboree. They just opened a Gymboree outlet by me! It's different stuff than the regular store, but just as cute and a lot cheaper.

Kohl's also has a brand called Jumping Beans that has some cute stuff.

  • There is a great outlet mall near me, so I shop at Carters, Gymboree, Children's Place, Baby Gap and Osh Gosh.  They also have a Ralph Lauren store, but its still pretty pricey for an outlet store.

You can usually get Carters and RL, and Chaps stuff pretty cheap at Kohl's.  All of dd's pjs are the First Moments (I think that's the brand) brand from Kohl's.  I can usually get them on sale, which is great because she wears them for a few weeks and then they're too small!

  • I like Carters for onesies and PJs.  The rest of our clothes are Children's Place (I find these run big so he will be wearing their 6-9 stuff for a while longer even though he is growing out of that size for other clothes - I like their PJs though, long and skinny), Gymboree (I like some stuff but I am not crazy about characters and stuff so we really only have bottoms from there), Janie and Jack (some bottoms from there too, they are related to Gymboree) and some Circo stuff (Target brand - this is good for knit bottoms and shirts with cute sayings plus PJs).  I think Old Navy runs pretty small but their stuff is inexpensive which is good for the short amount of time it will be worn.  I'm lucky to have tons of hand-me-downs from my cousins who both have boys that are 2 years older than DS, so I take pretty much whatever I can get.

  • I like different brands for different types of clothes.

PJ's - Carters.  The Kohl's brand (can't remembr the name) is OK, but it runs a bit small.

Jeans - Gap, ON and Genuine OshKosh (found at Target).  The off brands did not fit DS in the waist at all.

I shop the sales for everything for DS just because he doesn't get a lot of use out of his clothes.  I love Gap for just about everything.  It fits great, quality is good and they have good sales and deals (2 for $20 on a lot of stuff).  I've found at my local Gap they rotate/mark down items on Tuesday's.  I like ON for bottoms.  The tops run a bit small.  BRU carries Amy Coe.  If you can get it on sale it's a good deal and isn't too cutsie.  Target sucks for boys clothes!  They just don't carry a lot - at least at my Target.  I do like the Genuine OshKosh at Target.  The fit and quality are good.  Kohl's has some cute stuff and they have GREAT sales.  I can't remember the brand (Sonoma maybe?), but the quality and fit have been great.
