Have you guys seen this? I am all for breast-feeding, but what is the point of this doll? IMO, I dont think a little girl should be pretending to breast feed her toys... What do you guys think?
I saw this on the news the other day and nearly spit out my drink. Yea, I think that's a little too realistic for her age. But, good to know they're becoming more open to the subject. Just think it's a little...young...for her to be practicing such.
I think it's fine for girls to mimick mommy and breastfeed their dolls in an innocent and pure way...which they will and can do..WITHOUT strap on boobs...which I think has perverted it IMO

This is the first I've heard of it... I must be behind on toys.

I don't see a problem with it. Many little girls that see their mothers BFing try to emulate that behaviour. I would never buy the doll but if other people want it then more power to em.

Holy crap. I didn't know they came with their own boobs. (I commented previously without reading the article or anything). yea, strap on boobs is a little much for me.
And for the millionth time on this issue - I don't see what the BFD is. Kids imitate what mommy and daddy do. Girls AND boys will imitate mommy bfing if that's what they see. So why should a doll encouraging that be a problem? I see no similar outrage expressed over dolls coming with baby bottles for pretend bottle-feeding.
I've never seen this! I can see how it's controversial - but I actually think it's a good idea. I imagine that even without a "special" doll many children would imitate a breastfeeding mother using a regular doll (which is fantastic and means you've done a good job modeling a healthy behavior for your child), so why not have a doll that's specifically geared to that? I don't really see what the big deal is...
I think the doll is ridiculous and sort of perverse. I plan to breastfeed my baby and feel strongly about the subject, but this doll is too much.
Yes, breastfeeding is natural, and if a child sees their mother breastfeed a sibling and is curious about or imitates the behavior, that is one thing. But to buy a doll for a little girl that encourages her to pretend breastfeed is just too much.
Kids are already growing up way too fast, why encourage them to grow up quicker?
I also don't agree with the argument that toy bottles are acceptable, so this should be too. Breastfeeding is a choice you make as an adult - I was influenced by both my mother (who breastfed me) and by educating myself about pregnancy and what's best for the baby...
I could go on, but I'll stop here. Hope the doll doesn't make it to the USA!
the big deal is that someone has taken something that is natural, innocent and pure, and perverted it. We are talking about small children... they don't develop at a young age, therefore I don't think it's appropriate
Maybe I'm a prude but I believe that my daughter can immitate breast feeding just fine using a regular baby doll and a little imagination....
The world we live in teaches them way too much too early as it is....I believe in letting little girls/boys be little girls/boys....

But why? No one can answer this question for me. What is wrong with it?

Bottlefeeding is a choice you make as an adult, too. Why is a baby bottle not perverse?

because a bottle is not a personal private part...why is this hard to understand. We teach (or need to teach) little girls to be modest and cover themselves and that their breasts are private parts....a bottle is not.

It's hard to understand because no one is explaining why this is "too much" or "perverse." I'm just not seeing it.
Yes, breasts are private parts - but my daughter will be seeing mine when I bf her little sister. If she wants to play at imitating mommy feeding baby....what's the issue? The halter top that comes with the doll triggers a feeding noise in the doll - this to me is no different than pretend baby bottles where the milk "disappears."
I fail to see how playing with this doll will turn a little girl into an exhibitionist (more than she already is, lol).
We let kids play with toy weapons all the time. While I wouldn't buy this toy for my child, I wouldn't be upset if my son or daughter pretend nursed a baby. It isn't sexual IMO. They're practicing a nurturing behavior, and in my mind that's a lot more positive than pretend shooting someone. I just thought the comparison was worth making, since people are getting so upset about how "controversial" the toy is. We put a lot less thought into toy guns than we do a breastfeeding doll, it seems.
It's ok to BF in public where lot of children can see you, but it's wrong for girl to BF a doll using a halter?... So it's better the girl imitates you lifting her shirt?
Re: Breast-feeding Doll?!?!
This is old news, but I'll comment

It's not "strap-on boobs" - it's a halter top.
