Success after IF

PSA for those that have short luteal phases...

:::Davezwife proudly stands on large podium and takes the mic:::

Listen up folks:

I've never gotten more than about 8-10 days out from my ovulation without starting to spot. I generally get my period MUCH too early for any pregnancy to stick. I've lost many pregnancies this way. 4 out of 5, I suspect.

By simply taking my 200mg oral prometrium and... umm.... shoving it up my hooie... I am now about 16DPO WITH NO SPOTTING ! (no I'm not pregnant either)

I have Miss HowleyShell (Shelly) to thank for this tidbit, NOT the many doctors I've seen. I feel victorious. I feel, in some way, I've kicked at least ONE PART of IF's arse. I feel better about many things.

I  continue to have the audacity of hope.

(I also have some literature and medical blah blahs to go with this unmedical statement, talk to your doctor, blubbity blubbidy...email me for more details.)

Thank you.

Carry on.

  • Luckily, my GYN that I saw when I first started ttc figured that out for me after my first m/c, and I took prometrium every month afterwards. I am very lucky I had such a great doc!
Ron and Nora married 6.3.06 21 cycles, 1 m/c, 4 rounds clomid, 1 round gonal f and 3 IUI anovulatory cycles, LPD

  • Fortunately I had an RE who was on top of things and I followed that instruction.  I guess I'm lucky, too!
  • Thank you!  I will definitely keep this in mind because my LP is way too short these days and we may need some help other than just the Met this time.
  • of course I don't mean to say I've solved the world's problems, and rid the world of LPD, I'm just happy this seems to have "healed" mine.

I'm surprised I've not heard of this before now.

  • I wish they sold it at the drugstore. I'm supposed to be taking it easy and not stressing this time around for a few cycles. My RE'd kick my butt if I called and asked for it.
  • I had cycles very much like yours for the majority of the time we were TTC.  When I started treatment it was the only thing that "fixed" the spotting.  But I still didn't get pg. :(

After 2 years of TTC we did an IVF consult and that doc suggested taking a daily b-complex in addition to the PNV and after several months the spotting stopped.  And lo and behold, after three years of TTC, we got pg.  So my miracle pill is bcomplex and I said screw you to the hooha capsules.

  • Glad it worked for you.  I start spotting around 7DPO and continue for about 8 days until AF, and it is not light spotting at all.

Prior to getting pg, I did months of vaginal progesterone, then I did oral, then I did both.  The only time I have not spotted was when on PIO and pg with twins.

Now PP, it is even worse. UGH!!
