Slipped and Fell at Wal-Mart

I was at Wal-Mart this morning buying a few last minute things to put in my bag for the hospital.  I went to turn down an isle and totally slipped and fell o the floor.  There was water (no sign to warn me) and I just happened to walk right in a fall.  Thank god when I fell, I fell to my side, so I twisted weird and my hip is sore, but I never bang the belly or anything.
I scared my poor friend that was with me.  A manager from Wal-Mart saw it happen and came right over.  She insisted for liability reasons that we fill out incident reports.
I called my doc and was told that as long as I am not having any bleeding and I am actively feeling the baby move, that I don't need to come in.  Well I am for sure feeling the baby move.  I think I woke him up, he is moving more than ever today.
Anyway, can't wait to not be a clutz any longer.

  • Did the manager see the water on the floor?  Did it get included in the reports?

I'm glad to hear you're okay!!

  • Wow, I'm glad you're ok and that the manager took the incident seriously.  That must have been a scary experience for you though!
  • I'm sorry this happened to you. Good thing the baby is fine!
  • Oh no! Thank goodness you're ok. I'm always afraid of falling. I wouldn't think you're a clutz, Walmart should be monitoring their store for hazards better.

  • You poor thing!  I had a similar experience at Wal-Mart my freshman year of college.  They had a huge soap display up and someone had squeezed out an entire bottle of clear soap on the floor surrounding it.  Of course I couldn't see the soap on the floor and stepped in it.  I slid across the floor and slammed into a shelf.  It caused a huge cut in my leg.  There was blood everywhere.  I hunted down a worker to tell them what happened and the woman looked at me and shrugged and said, "I guess we'll put a sign up."  That's it!  No "Are you okay?" or "Is there anything we can do for you?"  I was livid.  I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart anymore because of this.

  • I'm so sorry, I fell a couple of weeks ago and just started crying for no real reason.
  • I am always so afraid of falling like this!!  (Purely because of embarassment not because I'm worried about anything bad happening!)

  • Yikes!  Same thing almost happened to me today at the grocery store (I caught myself).  You could sue you know...Wink

  • Sue...that is what my husband keeps joking around about.  He keeps saying we could both retire.  If I had any actual damage I would do it for sure.  But all seems to be fine.  I would be okay if I ended up going into labor.  As long as the little guys is okay.
