Wtd at work for swelling?

I work behind the desk at a hotel and I can either stand for 8 hours or I have a barstool I can sit on. As you can imagine the swelling in my feet and "cankles" is feelin pretty good right now...or NOT. Is there anything I can take for swelling or do I just have to wait till I get home to put my feet up?

Thanks!

  • so they don't let you put your feet up any?  drink lots and lots of water and maybe on your lunch break or something put them up.

  • Take a look at support hose, there are some made specifically for pregnant women. Can't think of the name for them but I'm sure a Google search would find some for you. My sister is a doctor and wears them PG or not to help with circulation in the legs.

Have you talked to your doctor about what to do? Have you talked to your supervisor about the need to sit more and/or put your feet up? What about putting something in front of you to put your feet up on? I have an upside down trash can under my desk to slightly elevate my feet.

  • I use an upside down trash can under my desk as well. Also, have ice water handy at all times. GL!
  • Ditto put your feet up even if not elevated high, don't let them hang... like if you sit on a barstool, maybe a regular chair?  I put my DH on brainstorming and he came up with a camping stool but I sit at at regular level chair.

Ditto lots of water, I found a container that holds the water I need to drink, then fill it and know when I leave work if I have drank enough water...

  • Thank you! ::runs out to buy support hose:: The desk is pretty high so there isn't really anywhere to put my feet up :P
  •   I'm rocking the Jobst brand knee-high compression hoisery.  Not the cutest in the world, but I literally saw my ankle bones for the first time in a month last week after wearing them for the first time.  If you find anything to help with sausage fingers, let me know!
