TTC After a Loss

Sweet little brother...

My younger brother is 17, and he was sooo excited to be an uncle. He's your classic teenager, but he's been so worried about me since our loss. I had one breakdown in front of my family when we first moved in June, and he just grabbed my hand and held on. Whenever the subject of babies comes up, he always looks over at me to see of I'm okay. My mom told me this weekend that he keeps asking her questions about my health, if we are really ready to try again and whether or not we are working with a doctor, even now. She said he's just been really curious and anxious since it happened, so I need to find a way to talk it over with him without the usual crying (on my part). But I think it so sweet that my little brother is worried about me. It tells me what kind of man he is growing up to be.

  • That is super sweet of your brother... I would be proud of my brothers if they even thought to ask how I was.... You are very lucky!

  • I have some ideas of how to communicate with your little brother without him seeing you cry. One, call him on the phone if you can have a steady voice even if you are crying. Two, write him a hand written letter Letting him know what is going on and how much it means to you that he cares. Three, Find a way to IM him, that way you can answer his questions without him seeing you cry. Four, Let him see you cry tell him why you are crying and let him know that its ok to feel the way you are feeling and that he doesn't have to worry becuase you are in good hands with your doctors, husband, and him. It sounds like he is more grown up than most teens and that option four might be worth it.

These kids today don't ever see each other in person anyway - it's all Facebook and texting (she types on the blog)

  • That is so sweet.

Funny how a 17 year old boy can "get it" more than some of our older female friends.

    Sounds like an awesome kid.

  • Wow! That's so sweet! He's going to make a wonderful hubby one day :)
