Hi! I'm looking around for cribs and am finding it overwhelming! We are looking for a dark wood convertable crib under $400 that has a nice dresser that matches. I'm looking for good quality that wont look cheap if it scratches. I'm willing to pay more if need be for nice quality that will last. Anyone have any suggestions that fit into this this criteria?? Thank you! Its always nice to hear from Moms that allready have the product!
Re: crib recommendations
I think the Kendall crib at PBK is either $499 or $599. While a tad more, the quality is great, real wood and you could always coordinate a less expensive changer with it. It does convert to a toddler bed too.
good luck with your search!
We purchased the Tori by Savanna set (in espresso) from JCP and couldn't be happier with it. The crib was $379 (and it seems that it's always on sale) and is solid hardwood and VERY sturdy. We also got the changing tower, hutch, and 4-drawer dresser. While these pieces aren't solid wood like the crib, they're still very high quality.
The set is absolutely gorgeous in person--the pics online don't do it justice at all!

We bought the Bonavita Hudson collection. The crib seemed very sturdy and all the wood (we chose the licorice color) was great quality.

We have the Sheffield crib by Bonavita. Good to know quite a few others have the same brand crib. It was a little more expensive, but it is a distressed look (which is why we got it) so it won't show scratches and dents as badly. Plus it's solid wood not MDF with the plastic covering. That was important to us as well.
Just curious to know how long you were planning to keep this crib for, some people by the convertible life time crib, but don't really anticipate to keep it for a lifetime?
I'd like it to last for a few children, (this is our first.) I don't need the convertable part that makes into a full bed, I assume I'll have another on the way by the time one outgrows the toddler part. I just really like the idea of making it into a toddler bed.
Thank you to everyone for the suggestions! I had never heard of the Bonavita, which seems to be the vote here, and had just barely looked at JCP! I love looking at what others have used and enjoyed!!
