During my anatomy scan at 19 weeks, they found that our baby has 2 gallbladders, really no be deal we are just being monitored by my OB and a Perinatologist. So during our first ultrasound with the Peri, our baby was measuring a few weeks ahead so they scheuled me to come in 4 weeks later (today) for a growth ultrasound.
During the Growth Ultrasound today, they found that yes, he is measuring ahead by 4 weeks 1 day. I am 28 w 1 d today and he is measuring at 32 w 2 d. They have scheduled me to come back in 4 weeks for another growth ultrasound.
I have my last monthly appointment with my OB next friday and will ask him then but I was just curious what happens when you are measuring that far ahead....I am sorry if this has been asked a million times before, I am just worried that he is going to make his appearance MUCH sooner than his November 2nd due date!
Re: Anyone in a similar situation?
I have been measuring ahead since about the second tri, they have not changed my due date though because the measuring ahead began past 16 weeks. Apparently the only accurate way to change the due date for measuring ahead is before 16 weeks, otherwise it is just different growth patterns for different women and their babies. Also if you haven't done the gluscose test yet they may do that soon to ensure that they baby is not jsut reacting to GD. GL don't stress I often feel like the more info we all have the more we freak out, and since we can't control any of it, just enjoy the pregnancy as is right now.
I'm consistently measuring 2-3 weeks ahead. My OB has talked about looking at things and making sure that I deliver when it's appropriate for my body. He's going to start checking me when things get a little closer to help determine whether or not the due date needs to be adjusted. I have to be induced due to complications so it makes the whole process a little more clinical for me.
I have growth ultrasounds every 4 weeks (and a regular one in between) so they know he's a pretty large baby.
Don't worry - they'll figure things out as you go along. The key to remember is that ultrasounds aren't perfect and sometimes they are off by more than a pound or so at the end. Maybe he's smaller than they think!
When I was in my 20somethingwks I was measuring pretty far ahead, too. I eventually started measuring more on track.
