3rd Trimester

For those planning a coming home outfit for themselves...

What are you planning on wearing home?  I have no idea what size I'll be.  Maybe a dress?  Maternity clothes still?  I've heard of women who go home in their pre-preg jeans but I am not going to attempt that one.  I know I'll want to be comfy.  I guess there will be photos though since we are dressing the baby up to come home so I should look decent too.

  • I will probably bring a dress and also a pair of maternity jeans and a top.  I will decide what I want to wear the day of.

  • I was thinking along the lines of a little track suit or something. I have a really adorable one from Aeropostale. But, that's about it. Whatever I end up wearing will be cute, but definitely casual.  Could be a cute maternity dress, too. What I am counting on will be being sore, so I'm planning around that.

  • Honestly you will NOT want to wear a dress or anything else that is nice for that matter.

After I gave birth to DS my legs were so swollen I looked like a freak.  I didn't care what I wore home.  I threw on pajama like clothes and called it a day.

  • I am bringing two different going home outfits: gauchos and a tank top, and an ON dress, in case of emergency C-section so nothing has to put pressure on a possible incision. Other than that I am bringing a couple of nursing gowns for the hospital stay.

  • I packed some gaucho/yoga pants that are not maternity but I could fit in them now and also a knit folder over skirt. We'll see how I'm feeling and how hot it is.

  • I have heard that dresses arent a good choice because you will have so many pads down there, you'll need the support of pants.  I have packed new black yoga pants and a cute tank
  • I packed a comfy dress that I plan to wear, but I do have a top and comfy pants just in case I change my mind.

  • Maternity cropped pants, and a long top I bought a couple of weeks ago. It's not maternity, but I can actually wear it now. Most books recommend something you could wear in early pg, like around 18 weeks or so. A dress would probably be comfy, I'm just usually more comfy in pants myself.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • PJ bottoms and and a tank.  NO need to look cute going home.  I was sore with DD and although I am a believer in taking a shower and doing my hair in makeup, putting on a nice outfit was not sensible.  I wanted to be comfy and when I got home I really wanted to be comfy.
  • I'll most likely be wearing home when I wear to the hospital - which is my summer uniform of comfy cotton gaucho pants and a loose maternity tee or tank. I'm bringing two sizes of shirts, but will most likely be wearing the larger one home for the comfort level.
  • I'm expecting I'll still look 6 months pregnant, and I'm going for comfort...a pair of sweat shorts and a t-shirt.

  • I can actually still wear my preg-pg jeans (they just sit REALLY low under that belly), but I did do it, buttoned AND zipped yesterday, so I know its possible, just not the most comfortable thing in the world- still better than the bella band in this heat though!

I am trying to keep TWO outfits in mind in case one is dirty when I go into labor.  I'll probably take a pair of denim maternity capris and a pair of khaki maternity capris.  And I have two shirts in mind too (because every time I wear a dang shirt, I get a stain on it, so its likely one will have gotten a stain that I haven't gotten out yet).  Both shirts are just mat. T-shirts.

  • Go w/ a maternity dress for comfort.

  • I wore home what I wore there!  With DD I had one a sweatsuit, I had DH take it home and wash it and bring it back.  I just bought a pair of new sweats and will do that again...
  • A pair of comfortable yoga pants or pajama pants and a nursing tank top. I want to be comfortable so I'm not too concerned with looking cute.

  • I would go with Maternity clothes for sure.  That or something like yoga pants.  I wouldn't plan on going home in prepregnancy clothes.  I was actually bigger after I left both times - I was pumped full of so many fluids during my c-sections that I actually weighed more when I got home.  It didn't last, I was down to a lot of my bigger pre-pregnancy clothes at 2 weeks PP, but coming home, I was pretty much a blimp.

RE: a dress - if you plan on BF, a dress can be a total PITA.  You may be all ready to go and nursing may take longer with discharge procedures (happened both times with me).  Then, baby gets hungry and you have to hike your entire dress up to feed. If you have a longer ride home, you may have to stop to BF and then again, your entire dress is hiked up.

  • Wear loose pants (sweat/yoga/pajama) or a dress, or your vagina will hate you Tongue Tied
  • Last time I took maternity shorts to wear home. I ended up with a c/s and the panel of the shorts hit right at my incision - could NOT wear them. DH brought me a maternity skirt and that was fine even with the jumbo pad and mesh hospital panties. Take something that fit you in 2nd tri.

Anyone who says they wore home pre-pg jeans is either lying or they were sporting a HUGE muffin top. Seriously. I don't gain much weight while I'm pg - last time only 12lbs and DD was 8lbs of it. So I weighed less leaving the hospital than I did pre-pg. And I could not  fit into my pre-pg jeans for almost six months afterwards (I was able to wear the same size jeans, and even some a size smaller, much earlier than that, I just had to buy different ones that fit my new shape)
