Ladies who have developed pg carpal tunnel

I am going to lose my mind.

Fvck morning sickness, or any other discomfort, this is far, far worse than any other pregnancy symptom I could ever have imagined.

I was diagnosed last week and complained about it on here.. my Dr. gave me braces to wear and told me to elevate my hands, but absolutely nothing is helping and it's getting so bad.

I was up all night. NOTHING helps the pain and numbness. I cannot get used to this, I cannot deal with it until I give birth.

The Dr. says the next step if it stays this bad will be steroid injections, and I do not want to do that while pregnant.

Ladies, what is helping you? There must be something I haven't thought of?? ty

Re: Ladies who have developed pg carpal tunnel

  • I wear a splint on my left hand at night.  During the rest of the day I feel like I'm shaking my hand all the time to try to wake it up.  I haven't found any other means of relief.  I really really hope it goes away quickly once LO is born.
  • Loading the player...
  • cool compresses on my wrists...

be careful with your elbows and shoulders, as they tend to also affect the pain and numbness...

look up some physiotherapy books in the library and do the exercises recommended to help with c/t...

I have had c/t for 9 years, these have always helped when the braces aren't doing enough.

  • I literally JUST googled this...mine is only in my finger tips... it feels like if I rubbed my finger tips on a blanket, a rough blanket, FOR MANY HOURS... I havent tried to much as it just started... I heard that the vitamin B6 may help if your body is low on B6...  I figure its worth a try.
  • I'm in the same boat. Sorry, nothing seems to be helping me either :o(

However it's now my #2 nuisance since I think I've developed PUPPS (will find out thurs) and the itchiness is so distracting it's driving me bonkers.

  • I got it too. It showed up over the last two weeks and it sucks ass.
  • Try soaking your hands in ice. I know it sounds crazy but whenever I do think my hands don't fall asleep at night. I try to rinse my hands in cold water while I'm at work whenever I feel my fingers starting to go numb. But I am right there with you. I am constantly rubbing my hands, opening/closing them, and trying to keep them up.

Oh, man. That's the last thing you need. :(

Thanks for the advice, ladies, I figure it can't hurt to eat an extra banana and try some exercises. I just hope I'll be able to get some sleep.

  • i went to the orthopaedic docs. they gave me cortisone and lidocane injections in both my wrists, BEST things I have done! Pain is at a zero now.
  • I have this as well, I can't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time and then Im up for an hour trying to go back to sleep. I have it all the way up my arms, into my shoulder and elbows, my left wrist pops so bad that I hate moving it and my right fingertips are numb and tingly all day long.  The only thing that I do that sort of helps is an ice pack, or run my hands under cold water throughout the day... Good luck, I know it sucks!!!
  • I have been ok with the splints on (sleeping with them helps a lot). Sorry I cannot help more. Maybe stop typing?

Going in the pool for a while yesterday made my hands feel better (the water was 68 degrees).

  • My right haand is numb 24/7 I wear a brace with a splint as often as I can stand it, also when I sleep.

You need to ice you wrist whenever you can, it will go away PP hopefully my doctor says if it gets bad enough they may do surgery. Lets hope thats not the case....
