Success after IF

coming home outfit question

I know it's a little early to think about this, but I need some opinions on what to dress our baby in when we bring him home.

My EDD is 10/30 and I'll be delivering at a birthing center and going home about 4 hours after the birth. ? It could be daytime, night time, or 2 o'clock in the morning for all I know! ?Late October / early November in Virginia will be on the cooler side, probably in the 50s overnight, 60s during the day. ?

What would you plan on? ?I am trying to take into account the umbilical cord, the weather, and I'm thinking functional and practical, not necessarily multi-piece and cutesie. ?

Help me! ?My brain is spinning!?

Re: coming home outfit question

  • How about something with layers? That way it's more versatile.

I'm thinking maybe a long sleeved onesie or t-shirt with pants and then a little jacket to go over it if it's chilly. Newborns take a little time to regulate temperature also so you don't want to overdress or underdress. You can always add a little hat and blanket for warmth or ditch the jacket to be cooler.

  • I live in NOVA and it could just as likely be warm so IMO I think your best bet is a footed sleeper type outfit, a hat and a blanket.  If it is warm you can just omit the blanket.
