I had a c/s with DD, and it has been almost 2 years. I am scheduled for another in 3 weeks. Before I had my first one they shaved the area where my incision would go (even though I shaved the previous night). Even after two years my scar is still pretty thick and I cannot shave super close to it(yet hair grows there). I of course shave/trim everywhere else, but am scared of cutting the scar because it is so rough. Do you ever have a problem with your scar and shaving, and are you going to shave the incision area before your next c/s or let the nurses do it? I know it is a wierd question, but was just wondering. TIA
Re: Question for ladies that have had a c-section (tmi)
Wow, lucky, mine is super thick and I still have no feeling about an inch on either side.
2 weeks??? hmmmmm....
well mine is still super thick and i cannot feel anything. brock is almost a year old though...so im not as far along as you. I do shave on my scar and it has never been cut or anything. You should be fine!
With my first c-section I ended up with a pretty thick/bumpy scar. (I believe my doctor referred to it as a keloid (sp?) scar) When I had my second c-section they cut off the thick parts and it healed really flat and smooth which was really nice. Hardly noticable! I am hoping this third one heals like the second one!
I let the staff shave it for the c-section. One of the nurses mentioned that some doctors are particular about it so I figure I'll leave it to them!
My First c-section scar was fairly raised as well. But, I had laser hair removal done several years prior, so there wasn't a lot around the area to worry about the 2nd time. I did groom the rest of the area though. The nurses never had to do any touch-ups and honestly thanked me for doing it before hand.
This time, I have specific instructions from both the hospital and my OB saying "PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE HAIR FROM THE BIKINI AREA FOR ONE WEEK PRIOR TO A SCHEDULED C-SECTION.(THIS INCLUDES SHAVING AND WAXING)."
I guess there was an increase in infection from women shaving and knicking the areas which caused open wounds/scabs.
I wouldn't stress over it that's for sure.
