2nd Trimester

Back from OB - no end in sight.

Most of the placenta looks great, and has moved.  But there is a lip of it still covering the cervix and still bleeding.

I called because I had a number of large clots this weekend, it was unusual for me.

Anyway, baby is looking good, growth has slowed a bit, but is still on track, baby looked good.  Sleeping, so didn't move much, but still little arm movements, and head movements, so doc said he/she was clearly an active one.

Basically, as before, the bleeding can continue until the placenta previa resolves - but he feels even more confident that it will - there has been movement over the last three weeks.  He said he's almost positive that it will be cleared by 28 weeks.

I'm anemic, so I'm on an iron supplement and I have to have my blood checked more often.  If my blood count goes under 9, we have to discuss a transfusion.  He said that if the bleeding continued as it has, he expects we'll have to do at least one.  So, fun.

Hopefully not this week though.  Otherwise, same restrictions as before, and keep adjusting my warped version of normal.

  • OMGOSH - I didn't know!  You're planning a homebirth too, right?  If the placenta moves can you go ahead with it?
  • Mother F.

I'm sorry, dude.  But good news that he's optimistic!  That's great!

Yes, we're planning a homebirth.  This OB is one of my mw's back-up physicians.  He's really nice and supportive.  He's released me back to her care, but when something comes up like this, I have to see him.

He feels really confident it will correct - even more than the first time I saw him three weeks ago.  He said to go ahead and plan on an out of hospital birth.  If for some reason it doesn't correct, then yeah, I'll have to have a scheduled c-section.

Sort of a mindtrip, you know?

Oh man, that's frustrating. But 28 weeks would still leave you so much time before delivery to plan the birth you want.... No wonder you're anemic with all the clot/bleeding you've been having! It's good that he was pleased with the progress, hopefully that placenta will move its ass soon.
  • Oh easjer, I'm sorry.  I'm glad baby looked good though!  Hopefully this will resolve like the doc said.

Wow - you're sorta stuck in limbo but the prognosis is good.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!

  • Good luck, wishing you the best!

  • Yeah, I generally feel good about our chances, I just am so tired of the bleeding.  The idea of 10 more weeks makes me want to crawl in bed and be awoken when it's over.

This pregnancy sort of sucks, honestly.  I mean, I'm so thrilled Chickie looks good, and I feel pretty positive Chickie will be worth it all, but man, this is nothing like what I expected.

  • 18 weeks was the last unscheduled trip I made to the doc.  She walked in and said "We like boring pregnancies around here you know, lol".  I laughed and told her that would be ideal for me as well.

I'm sure you feel the same.

I hope this has to be the last unscheduled trip for you as well.  Glad LO is active.

  • I'm sorry you have to deal with all of this eas! I can relate to your frustrations with the placenta issues but hopefully it will resolve itself for both of us soon!
  • I can't imagine how stressful it is. Best wishes to you, I hope it resolves soon.

I hope so!  I've been following in your footsteps for awhile now, I think, lol.

  • I'm so glad to hear that the baby is looking good and your placenta has had movement.  That's a HUGE step.  You will be 28 weeks before you know it! GL!!
  • Fvcking placenta! I know what your going through I had a complete placenta previa with DS and wound up needing a scheduled csection. That sucks donkey balls your bleeding this early ugh! I didn't start to bleed until 33wks. I hope it moves for you, it sounds like your chances are good. GL!
  • Well, that's enough good news that we'll take it- all that is important is that LO is ok in there, and that you'll be ok too. Sucks about the anemia though- hopefully you won't need a transfusion, but whatever it takes, right?
  • Oh, man. That just sucks.

    Hang in there.
