3rd Trimester

Survived first day of school- 39 weeks pregnant!

Okay, the first day of school is crazy no matter what- a million parents waiting at your door to meet you, crying kids, collecting supplies, school tour, kids who don't know where they live or how they need to get home .... (I teach 1st grade).

But the first day of school a week away from your due date is crazier than crazy! Everyone told me I shouldn't be there but I wanted to be there to meet my kids. I won't say I regret going but I am SO tired now and everything hurts!

Anyway, even though the kids are young, I am pretty sure they won't forget their first day of first grade with the teacher with the really reeeeally huge belly. LOL

New sig pic from this morning! Smile

  • You are brave. My kiddos (well, I teach high school, so they are big kiddos) start back tomorrow. I am dreading the day!

  • Don't you look pretty! And good for you for making it through the day! How many parents gave your belly the side-eye or asked questions about it?

  • Hey Ang!  I'm a new mommy and I'm bored so I stopped by the 3rd tri board to answer any questions.  WinkWink

I can't imagine teaching 1st graders at 39 weeks pg.  You are my hero!  My mom is an early elementary school teacher and I always feel like a need a xanax after I've been in her classroom.

Will you be going back any more this week or was today your one day?

  • Good for you! I was wondering why I hadn't seen any posts from you this morning, I didn't realize kids started school this early! Our schools don't start until the end of August.

Thanks! The parents were great. They wished me luck and seemed fine. Some said, "So... I guess you won't be here long?" I wanted to be like, "Oh, I have three months left!" to see their eyes pop out of their heads . LOL

I did have a parent last week who was not too happy at open house but everyone else has been supportive. I think more than anything they were surprised that I showed up being so pregnant and I hope they appreciate my efforts!

  • You are such a trooper! I am sure the kids were happy to meet you too!!

Yeah- it's super early! We get out the third week of May though.

Are you here because you're BORED?!?! LOL

Yeah- a xanax would be GREAT right now!

I plan to go in all week- or for as long as I feel like I can make it. Which.... I am feeling less confident about now.... Wish me luck!

  • That's great! I don't think I can teach preg or not! My Best Friend is a school teacher and she taught right up until her due date.

Great Picture and Good Luck to you!

  • You look great!! Love the top!! By the time I go back (here in NJ we start AFTER labor day) I will only be 33 weeks pregnant...you have some courage!!!

  • Wow, I am impressed. And you look great!

Are you planning to work right up until baby comes? How long are you out once baby is born?

    Very amazing.

  • That top is GORGEOUS!! I want one, lol.

Good for you for braving that first day of school!! I'm sure it meant a lot to the parents, too, to meet the woman who will be teaching them for most of the year!!

Good for you! But I'm surprised your district let you start the year. At my school if your due date is within a month of school opening, you can't start the year. They're especially strict about it with the younger kids.

Interesting! Well... I can understand that. But I am glad that I don't have to "waste" time off with no baby. And that I could meet the kids and attempt to set the tone before I leave.

  • My heart goes out to you.  I teach 11th and 12th grade students and we started on Thursday the 6th.  I only worked Thursday and Friday.  My doctor didn't want me to do the two days that I did, but I just couldn't not meet my kids who will be there when I get back!   By the time school was out on Friday, I could barely move!

I hope that you have a great week.   I'm sure your parents were very appreciative of your efforts. GL!

  • We start on Thursday! I teach 2nd Grade and I am really not looking forward to going back. Luckily, I am part-time and teach 2-3 days a week. I think I'll survive till the end of September. However, my feet kill me by the end of the day and it is so painful. You have given me hope!
  • OMG!  You're dedicated!  Are you going to the bitter end?  When are you going back after baby?
