XP - Baby Shower Idea

I went to a baby shower about a week ago and the hostess had a great idea.  (I prob won't use this, just because I'm anal about handwriting, etc. but thought I'd share)  She passed out blank envelopes and had each guest address the envelope to herself.  That way, mom-to-be saves time when sending out her thank-yous...especially with LO coming so soon!

Would also be a good idea to write the gifts received on sticky notes, then put each sticky on the corresponding envelope.

Re: XP - Baby Shower Idea

  • I went to a baby shower that did this and no offense to anyone who has done it but I thought it was tacky and rude.  I felt as though if someone can spend the time and money to get you a gift then you should be able to do the thank you card, including addressing it.  It just makes it seem more routine than something the mom to be wants to do.  I can understand being busy with a newborn, but I would think most mom-to-be's would have the thank you's sent our before the LO arrives.

  • I think that's kind of tacky....sorry! Why not pass out the cards and have them fill those out too?
  • I think it's tacky.  But at least you know you'll be getting a thank you note :)

  • Yea they did that at my bridal shower and my baby shower. It was nice because it did save a lot of time.

Agreed!  I do not like this.  Sorry.

  • I had this done at my shower and I had whoever was doing the gift receiving list, to write what each person bought on the back of their card. It made writing my thank you's a breeze!
  • Yup...kind of rude I think. I guess it's a little different when it's a baby, not a wedding....but still....

Um, wow. Seriously? People take the time to come to a party for you and bring you gifts, and you can't even write your own envelopes?

    Incredibly tacky.
