My hubby painted the nursery this weekend and on Sunday MIL comes over and I showed her the bedding set and the 2 packs of onesies I have bought. She made a comment something to the effect of "Geez, stop buying stuff for her...there will be nothing left to get her."
Last night I posted something on FB about my DH painting the nursery and she post back something about "I am sure this is going to be one spoiled little girl."
WHY.....Because she has a crib, bedding and 2 packs of onesies? I guess that is spoiling her.....Wait till she sees the registry....then she'll really think she's gonna be spoiled!
I think she is just mad because DH told her that while we appreciate the gift, we don't want to use the 10+ year old travel system (it's since been recalled) and the USED breast pump from 1994 that she gave us.
Re: MIL already saying baby is spolied....WTF?
I say our baby girl is going to be one spoiled baby. Nothing wrong saying your child will be spoiled.
I have bought nothing except for a dresser and paint for the walls for our baby...but all the stuff she is getting from her Aunt, Grandparents, and people I haven't met...that yeah...she will be spoiled. I wouldn't take it personally with your MIL says that.
My MIL wants to give us old stuff too!!! WTH?! She likes to go to goodwill and get stuff. Got us a 1950's bassinet...and then was upset that I didn't seem excited about it. YEAH! BECAUSE THE CHILD WHO USED IT LAST PROBABLY HAD POLIO!!! Oi! But I try to act excited...apparently I'm not doing a good enough job because DH had to talk to her because she was upset that I wasn't acting excited. He wouldn't tell me what he said to her..but said he did talk to her.
My mother doesn't even understand it! My mom is all about getting us new stuff because it's our first baby and all. Argh! And it's not like my parents have a lot of money..but they at least know not to buy goodwill stuff from the 50's.
That is exactly what I posted back on FB to her. "Not spoiled, just well-loved!" I would like to think she means well-loved, but I think after her comment Sunday, she means spoiled as in too much stuff.
LOL...I like this!
Hmm, maybe she meant it in a good way?
Is this not her first grandchild?
There is a huge difference between spoiled and spoiled rotten. These days many people use the term "spoiled" in a good way, as in well loved. It wouldn't bother me, personally.
