Finding a new OB at 35 weeks...?

Anyone else had to do this?

I found out last week that my insurance had dropped me and I was going to have to get Medicaid.  Okay, fine, I was dealing with all of that.  Well, today I called my OB's office to make sure they took Medicaid and they don't.  So now I'm going to have to find a new OB, hopefully get in to see them very soon, finish getting all of this insurance sh't figured out and find out if I'm still delivering in the same place or not.

Its getting really hard to try to stay calm.

  • I switched at 32 weeks b/c my other doctor was pushing a c/s on me. My new dr said that a c/s was possible but not necessary to even predict at this time so I switched feeling a lot more comfortable with this dr. I would check with medicaid and see if they have a list for you to look at. That is how I found my new one was covered, also I asked for lots of refferals.

  • Insurance can be such a PITA. I hope it goes smoothly for you!
  • GL, you will be fine!  My advice would be to pick up your medical records IN PERSON from your former OB, because doctors' offices are notoriously slow in transferring patient files to a new doctor.
  • That actually happened in my last pregnancy but there was another dr in her practice that accepted medicaid. You should have a list of OB in your area that accept medicaid or you can always go onlinea nd look at your states medicaid page. GL and I hope everything goes well!!!Wink

Thank you.  i didn't even think about having to get my medical records.  I have to go there anyway, because I have to pick up proof of pregnancy and due date, so I will have to have them have my medical records ready as well...

And thakn you all ladies.  I'm just really freakingo ut right now.

  • Ask if your OB has any suggestions.  I'm sure you are not the only person this has happened to and s/he likely knows most of the OBs in the area.
