Interview at 27 weeks!

I have an interview today for a teaching position. I look obviously pregnant. My question is.......should I bring it up in the interview or not say anything unless asked.???? I want them to know I really want this job and that being pregnant doesn't make me any less capable.

Re: Interview at 27 weeks!

  • I am in the sams position you are...still looking for a teaching job...my policy is they CAN"T ask and you don't have to tell...

  • I also just had an interview and I'm almost 28 weeks. I look pregnant and it's clear they knew. I didn't mention it but at the end one of the ladies asked when I was due and I said early Novemeber. I just kept it casual. I look at it this way- if you didn't want to go back to work after the baby is born you wouldn't be meeting with them. Legally they really can't ask you and you don't have to say anything.

  • I'm in the same position you are as well.  I interviewed and got the job last week but I never mentioned being pregnant and they never said anything.  When I got home and told my mom and my DH about my concerns they both said "Did they see you in this interview?"  They obviously did!

Today I am going in to sign paperwork and stuff but I am planning on telling them when I go in.  It's nerve-wracking.

  • I interviewed for 3 positions at about 28-30 wks, and I was offered all 3. I was very honest with them and told them I was pregnant- even though I didn't have to.

Everyone asked about my maternity leave plans and due date, but that's it. If it makes a difference, I'm an SLP and I'm going to work PRN/contract for 2 of the 3 groups.

  • I was around 5 months when I went for an interview.  I didn't say anything (though I don't know if you could tell at that point), and then when I got the job offer I brought it up.  I'd prefer to get the job on the merit and then negotiate and pregnancy related issues later.

The thing is, if you are obviously pregnant, they won't need to ask, y'know? I just worry they'll make a decision based on that.  I don't know ... I'd just emphasize your qualifications and dedication.
