Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I'm so confused with all this Dairy

Right or wrong but are you not supposed to give infants Dairy products till they're 1?

If you can but not others -  can someone break it down for me? Such as what you can/can't.

Or am I mistaking this for something else?

oh gosh !! No wonder DD just stares at me when i'm shoving ice cream down my throat Party!!!

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Re: I'm so confused with all this Dairy

  • My pedi said ok to yogurt (full fat) at 6 months, cheese at 9 months. Full fat whole milk at 1 year.
  • Loading the player...
  • They can have dairy whenever you and your pedi decide.  Milk just cannot take the place of formula until they are 1.
  • Thanks girls! I knew milk for sure was a No-No till they turn one.  Just wasn't clear on the other items.

  • If you give your child formula, then there is dairy in most of them.

Most docs say milk at  a year so it doesn't replace formula.

I have been giving DD yogurt and cheese since about 7 months.

Yogurt and fruit is a staple of her diet!

  • I'm so confused by this post...

If your child has trouble digesting dairy products, then you probably shouldn't.  Otherwise it's fine.  As pp said, you just don't want milk to take the place of BM/formula until 1 year.  We introduced cheese/yogurt around 8 months.

  • Our pedi said no milk until 1 year but said cheese was okay and yogurt was okay (in small amounts) at 9 months.  This is really all the knowledge I have on the topic.
  • Our pedi just ok'd milk for DD today at her 11-month appointment (we're going to keep EPing past 1 though). Cheese/yogurt/cottage cheese she's been eating for a few months now.
