Their baby's kidney (or other organ) aspirated while still pg? I go back to my peri on Thursday to measure my baby's bad kidney which is thought to have either an obstruction or to be dystplastic (not functional). We may be sent at that time to another medical center to have the aspiration done to test the fluid... My concern is that LO is really active and I am afraid he will be poked in the wrong place (my OB said possible) so we kind of want to out weigh the risks... Anyone?!
Re: Has any one had...
We have a similar situation. My baby's kidney has the same issues as the ones you mentioned above. It became so enlarged that around 26 weeks they had to drain the kidney so none of the other organs' growth would be hindered. They also checked the urine for functionality. They ended up getting a little over 2/3 a can of soda out of just one kidney! Poor little guy
Anyway, my LO is extremely active as well and I was very worried about the procedure and possibly hitting the spine, etc. What they did was very similar to an amnio. If they don't have to drain the kidney, it shouldn't take too long, however due to him trying to move a lot, the doctor ended up pressing pretty hard on my abdomen to kind of hold him in place, but they were SO careful that I just let them do what they thought was best for LO, and to tell you the truth I think my peri is the reason he is still going strong
We currently go to weekly peri appointments to keep an eye on him, and the kidney is starting to fill up again. From here it's just a waiting game! He's still moving a ton and all of his organs are growing in correctly as far as they can tell! It's completely up to you on what you decide and feel is comfortable for you and your baby, but that was just my experience.
