Babies: 9 - 12 Months

more solids questions!

1) Plaintains: have you used them?  how did you prepare?

2) if you make your own applesauce, did you freeze any?  If not, how  long does it keep in the fridge?  I am not sure how much to make in advance.  i have the same question about pears!

3)  how did you use vanilla extract (non alcohol of course).  what foods did you put it in?

 4) wholesomebaby foods  confuses me about what to freeze and what not to. what if you make a freezable / 'doesnt freeze well' mix of foods.  can you then freeze it? do they balance each other out? hehe

5) edit:  did your baby hate green beans?  g seems to NOT be a fan.  i read it takes several (15ish) tries for a baby to make a 'final decision' on liking something or not. so do i really keep trying with this tha tmany times?  he does his shake/gag thing that he did with applesauce lol .  i mixed in avacado and he still turned his nose up!   anyone have any luck with something else mixed in?

Re: more solids questions!

  • I only have an answer for #5.  my daughter hated green beans as a puree so i gave up and introduced them later as finger food.  she now eats them pretty much everyday.

  • I don't bother with apple or pear sauce because it is one of the few things you can buy unadulterated. Green beans I mix with sweet potato or applesauce and slowly drop the amount until it is pure green beans. Never tried plantains, because they don't taste like anything. Never added vanilla to anything.
  • i have frozen apple and pear puree and only the pear turned brown. But, DD still eats it. But, I mostly mix it in with her cereal.
  • Ditto - we pretty much skipped pureed green beans - she never liked them, but as a finger food, they are a huge hit!
