A couple questions about ET

I'm 16 hours away from ET...holy sh*t!

I have just a couple silly questions about ET...

1) What did you wear?  I don't know why I'm so hung-up on what to wear but I am.  I'm mostly concerned about wearing something too tight around my waist (ridiculous, I know!)

2) Did DH come with you?  Was he in the room with you for the procedure?

3) How long did it actually take?

TIA!!!

Re: A couple questions about ET

  • I always try to wear something comfy.

DH had to stay in teh waiting room.

As for the procedure, at my clinic, they show you teh embryos on the screen and then they guide the embryos in with an U/S.

I think the actual procedure takes about a minute!

  • You can wear anything you want.  I wore capris and a t-shirt. They have me get undressed (from the waist down) and put on a gown for the procedure.

Yep, DH is in the room.

We were in and out in 15 minutes then they had me lay there for 20 minutes after.

    Good luck!!!!

  • 1. I wore sweatpants and a tank top I think.

    2. Yes DH was with me. This was important to me as this was the moment of conception. I wanted him to at least be in the room.  That was just my preference, he didnt Need to be there.

    3. We were at the RE's office for maybe 30 minutes...I was on the table for about 10. First the lab lady came in and showed us a pic of our embies that they were going to transfer and told us how many were frozen already. They did a belly ultrasound to look at my huge ovaries for a few minutes, cleaned my cervix and then inserted the embies.  Then the lab lady came back in and checked the catheter to make sure the embies didnt get stuck in there (which made me feel much better). I sat on the table for a few minutes, maybe 5. Then we were outta there.

I was surprised at how fast it all went.

It is so funny... my clinic does not allow husbands in the procedure room.

  • 1. I wore a sundress and they had me get completely undressed and put on a hospital gown

    2. MH was with me, he wouldn't have been able to make it if my ET was on a weekday though.

    3. we got there at 1130 and left about 2. ?The procedure itself took maybe all of 5 min. ?The RE first came to us to show us the embies after my laser accu. then in the OR for 5 min. then laser accu. in the recovery room and lay on the table for 20-25 min?

  • ditto pp's.

    1. I basically don't wear anything with a real waistband anymore due to the major bloat. But I had to change from the waist down and put on a gown.

    2. My husband was there - he had to put on booties and a cap. He looked very cute. (smilee, I can't believe they don't allow husbands in for something as important as ET!!!)

    3. I kinda lost track of time. I know I had to lay there for 20 minutes afterwards, then I could get up and pee and get dressed and leave.

    good luck!!!

  • 1.  I also always wear something very comfortable that will come off easy afterward and I can go straight to bedrest quite easily.

    2.  DH is always there!  We consider this the most important of all visits.  MY also takes off for bedrest as well.

    3. Actual transfer only takes like a minute or two.  However, the procedure at my office is:

    -come in for bloodwork (progesterone)
-insert a prometrium suppository right after bloodwork
-30 mintues prior to scheduled transfer take your valium
-embryologist calls couple back to discuss the embies
-go into the room with DH to undress (embryologist also comes in to show you embies inside the incubator)
    -transfer!

Just wear something super comfy.  My DH was with me the whole time but it was pretty quick about 30 minutes total but the procedure was about 5 minutes.  Good Luck tomorrow!

  • Best of luck to you tomorrow!  How exciting that it is finally here for you.

    1) What did you wear?   I was very bloated so I wore a flowy cotton dress.  I wouldnt wear something tight around the waist because you will probaby want to feel very comfortable on the ride home.  Also you might want to put your hand on your abdomen and think about your little embabies snuggling in :)       I do recommend wearing something that you feel pretty in - this is a big day and you should feel confident.

    2) Did DH come with you?  Was he in the room with you for the procedure? Yes, H was there for the whole thing.  He was in the procedure room holding  my hand.

    3) How long did it actually take?  We had to arrive at 7AM for an 8:30 transfer.  They take you in, have you change, do vitals.  Then the dr comes in and gives you photos of your embiees and discusses the quality.  I hope you get a photo - it is really special to see.  Then they walk you in the room that they do the transfers, transfer takes about 5 min, they walk you back out to a bed where you can chill for as long as you like.  I was there for about 2 hours total.

Good luck!  Good luck!  Good luck!    I have a good feeling for you.

  • Good luck tomorrow!  It's a breeze!

They do our transfers in 1 day surgery with our clinic.  I got there at 7:30 for a 9 AM transfer.  They gave me the valium around 8 AM; came to talk with me about the embies and got my pics.  Hubby got in scrubs and came back with me both times-he even got to peek in the incubator at the embies!!!!  Procedure itself took less than 5 minutes after I got set up in the room.We got to watch on the screen at them being implanted.  Very cool!  Our clinic has you stay an hour after the procedure, so they wheel me from the OR and I lay there until they tell me to go!

I had to wear a gown, but, had comfy clothes with me!

    Easy Peasy!!!

  • Just wanted to say good luck!!! I know this will be the one for you. Let us know how it goes.
