C-Section Mommas--question

I am four weeks out from my c-section (can't believe LO is *that* old!). . . I am feeling some tenderness/aching (sp) in the general area of my incision.  Up until now, most of the area was numb.  The incision is healed over, closed, no problems.  I'm not running fever nor is the incision area hot, so I don't think its an infection.  I don't think that I've over-exerted myself either. . .

Is it normal to feel like this at this point?  My best guess is that the nerve endings are "waking up".  TIA!

Re: C-Section Mommas--question

  • Congrats on your *big* 4 week old baby:) You'll have weird sensations in the area of your incision for awhile.  Everything is pulling back together to heal.  I still have a pretty large numb area around my incision and it's still puffy and a bit tender.  I still get random pulling sensations that I'd describe as soreness around the area.  I think what you described is part of the normal healing process.

  • I had an ache there for probably 2 months afterwards.  I had to hold my left side at the incision when I walked up until about 5 weeks!  I called the dr at the 5 week mark and they said as long as it looked OK (not red, oozzy, puffy, etc) then it was just a normal thing.  I took Motrin religiously until 5 weeks and then could start to taper it off.  I seem to have been in more pain than most!  But it did get better.

  • I felt achey or weird for awhile.  Also, every once in awhile I would get a sharp pain likely from the nerve endings 'waking up' or from some scar tissue stretching/tearing.  Anyways, I am not sure when it all went away, but I don't have any issues now...  The only thing that I think is weird is that I still have some numbness in the skin in that area; I wonder if it will always be numb...
    Nothing to see here....
  • Thank you!  I feel better now.  I figured what I am feeling is part of the healing process, but it is always nice to get some confirmation.

If it were oozy, red, hot or anything else that might indicate infection, I would call, but it sounds like what I am feeling is par for the course. . .

Hope everyone has a good evening!

  • I still get weird "pains" in my belly from c/s.  The weird part is that I don't feel anything (totally normal - no numbness or anything - it feels just fine) at the incision.  My soreness is actually in my lower belly where to muscles must be still healing.

  • I have had some random pains like that over the past couple of weeks and I think it's normal.
