If it's a paci and it's not someplace completely disgusting... I'll suck on it for a second. I'd rather have him get my germs than someone else's... and my immune system's a little more advanced.
it depends on where we are. in someones home, i usually don't care. out in a store, i don't give it back to him, but he doesn't really use his paci anymore and we don't take toys into stores. i'm not really sure why it doesn't bother me if it's in a house....people still track in all kinds of stuff. lol.

I generally apply the rinse paci/brush off toy rule. ?But it does depend on the state of the floor. ?When we were at the hospital the other day, I wiped all dropped toys with antibacterial wet ones before giving them back - the floor was gross!
mythbusters did a program on this and things have to be on the ground a lot longer than 5 seconds usually to transfer much of anything. silly as it seems, the episode helped me relax and we usually just make sure whatever fell doesn't have dirt on it and hand it back. he hasn't gotten sick any more often since we relaxed about it.
I normally don't have a problem letting DD play with her toys once they fell on the floor. DH freaks out though. He won't let her play with them again because he's worried about germs.
As long as there is no visible dirt they are fine by me.
