Those who have completely Ferbered.

How often does your LO get up at night now? My DD has been getting up for the last couple of nights. I don't know if it's because she's been sick, or just deciding she wants to get up again. Anyone have little timeframes where they just want to get up at night all of a sudden? And do you always just go back to the checkins?

  • DD gets up zero times at night.... goes to bed at 7:30-8pm and wakes up at 6:30.  I love Ferber.

  • It depends on the reason.  If I suspect teething, I give tylanol or motrin or oragel, give him his paci and then do check ins.  He usually calms quickly after that.  If I suspect illness, I usually bring him to bed with me and allow him to nurse all night for comfort.

My standard on night wakings is I always give him 5 minutes for so to calm down on his own.  If he is calming down I give him another 5 minutes.  Usually he calms on his own in less than 5 minutes.
