It's true how they say Google is NOT your friend sometimes. Of course since DS's whooping cough diagnosis I've been googling everything such as how he got it when he's been vaccinated, treatment, etc. and in my googling, it lists complications, and though its very very rare, especially if treated, it can be fatal and/or cause brain damage. The one site I was looking at said 1/250 chance of brain damage. I know those aren't high odds, however, the odds of getting it when vaccinated (like DS) is 1/500, so high odds don't make me very confidant right now.

And--I would recheck the stats on your DC getting  whooping cough while being vaccinated (you said 1/500).  I am almost positive those numbers are way off.  Pertussis is the least effective vaccine there is currently, as the entire 3-shot series only offers about 80% protection, I believe.  I think you get a little bit more with the 15 month shot, but there's nothing you can do about that because DS isn't old enough for that one.
