Does anyone have mixed match furniture in there babies room? our crib is black and my DH bought a glider that is light wood...Im trying not to make a big deal about it..but i want everything to go together...Big deal? or no?
i have all pecan maple wood for the crib, changer, and dresser, and couldnt find a rocker/glider to match so im just getting a white one and a white bookcase its not my first choice but oh well
Honestly I think it is no big deal. We have 2 pieces of furniture that are cherry stained and 2 that are a lighter wood. With all the other matchy items in the nursery you really don't even notice. Just accessorize with coordinating colors and it will be fine. I have thrown comforters over the chairs, which are the sandy wood, that match the bedding, curtains, etc...
you can do it like that but if it's going to bother you, have it stained or painted to match. you have time and maybe your dh could even do it [if he's the diy type].

YES you can absolutely mix up your furniture colors!! Use it to your advantage to make your nursery look stylish and classy. Here are some pics to inspire you. Obviously they aren't nurseries, but as you can see playing around with black and light wood works! I would play off on those colors for your LO's nursery to make it unique by adding black throw pillows to the chair or finding a rug that ties both colors together.
I bought a medium toned maple (not blond) crib today. I have no idea what the changing table/dresser is as my uncle offered and I accepted and I have never seen it. I think it might be white distressed - I have no idea. I am going to paint the bookshelf a brick red and the big oversized chair is a dark chocolate brown. The floors are oak and the walls are buttercream.
I'll bring it together with the details. I may ask my uncle if I can paint the dresser/changing table to match the bookshelf.
Could you paint a few items to help bring the room together? Honestly - matchy matchy is nice but I am not a really big fan. We are also on a really tight budget (like NO money) so our room will be more like a patch-work quilt.
Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing at all.
The only person who cares is you. The baby isn't going to cry more because you don't have all matching pieces. The nursery decor is for you. Don't worry about it, not he end of the world.

I'm actually using an old bookcase that's been in my family for ages, and an old dresser. Neither match each other, nor do they match the crib or glider (crib and glider are similar in color though). At first, I wanted everything white, but now that it's all in there, it works just fine, and at the end of the day, the baby's not going to care that the furniture doesn't match! You can see what it all looks like in my blog- I just posted pics of the finished nursery.
Re: mixed matched furniture?
I am in the same boat...anxiously awaiting replies
We're doing mix and matched furniture - our crib and dresser is black and our armoire and bookcase is white. I'll see if I can post a picture...

You can make it work. As long as things coordinate you should be fine.
We have various shades of brown wood furniture, and honey colored floors.
The room can still be cohesive with fabrics and such.
