Top of the stairs gate issue

We got the Kidco top of the stairs gate and we're having trouble installing it.  Looks like the railing is in the way on one side, anybody else have this problem?  I'm sure we can't be the only people with a railing on one side of our stairs, right? :)

    At the top of our stairs, we have a wall on one side of the top step/landing area, and an open metal railing/banister on the other side of the top step. No normal gate would work here so I got a play yard and took 3 panels and wrapped them around the top step. It's worked so far and DD hasn't shown any interest in touching it (she's too curious about going into all of the open doorways now to see what kind of trouble she can get into. lol)

    A PIP of some sort would help describe what you are saying though, and I have no idea what a Kidco top of stairs gate looks like...

    Kidco has installation kits that worked well for us.  I don't know what kind of railing you  have, but one of these might work.  We used the bannister kit and were able to hardware mount our Evenflo Top of Stairs gate to that instead of drilling into the wood bannisters.  Good luck!
