Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I said I'd never do this, and now I'm eating my words!

I didn't want Jack to watch TV and I wasn't going to allow it until he was a toddler.  I judged moms who let the tv "babysit" their kids.

Now I wish Jack would pay attention to the tv for even a few minutes so I could get some things done around the house or do my hair or makeup.

I've tried setting up his PnP in front of Sprout or Noggin and watching with him.  Nothing.

Now I'm sure other moms are judging me when I go out with mascara on one eye and my hair in a ratty ponytail.

  • the tv is the only way i can ever get dressed and eat. if i didn't have it i would starve bc he's a pita when i try to eat, and i'd be naked all the time.

    >>>actually I was nosing around the fridge trying to decide if I want to make a cobbler....

  • Yay!!!!

Thanks for the 5 stars!  Embarrassed

  • Um, we have set the pnp up, turned on some baby Einstein and slept an extra 30 minutes.  Sleep deprivation makes you do all kinds of things you said you wouldn't.  Have you tried BE?

  • Ha my DD doesn't watch TV either unless Gilmore Girls re-runs are on. I am a Gilmore Girls junky and when the theme song comes on Delaney stops whatever she is doing to turn and see the TV. It cracks me up, my DH said that is how I know I have a problem.
  • Don't do it!

Just have more kids so they can entertain each other.

Tonight I let the boys stay up for an extra half hour so they could play with Alex and I could scub some stains out of the carpet before Jason got home.

Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.

  • This just makes me thankful for my son playing well on his own.  IF I have to get dressed when he is awake I put him in his crib with some toys while I do that.  Otherwise he just plays on the floor in the room while I eat.  I do let him watch TV, our TV is on from when we wake up to when we go to sleep. He likes Yo Gabba Gabba and Barney.  Oh and of course the Prius commercials.
  • I'm perfectly fine with TV if it is educational. I learned to read on my own at 4 by watching Sesame Street. DD learned her letters and sounds from Super Why and Word World. Some TV is great for kids. I think it's kinda silly how everything is so extreme now adays. Why can't there be ever a happy medium?
