Its not flannel so much as "buffalo check". I love it and was around during grunge (kinda) and I loved it then. I flannel shirts.
This, and it's not grunge it's more country than grunge. I've seen it in a lot of stores and if it's done right it's cute. It's not usually soft like flannel. It's a cotton button up with a plaidish pattern meant to be worn fitted.

I miss the 90's. I'm fine with the throwback trend as long as we go back to non-prefab bands and pale skin being trendy. Waif look not so much.
