Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Somebody PLEASE tell me what to do!

LO was up every two hours last night.  The night before, it was 6 times, Normally it's at least 3-4 times.  Not a growth spurt - she has never slept well.  I feel like I'm walking in a fog all day long.  She wakes up hungry a couple of times, but mostly, just wants to be comforted & then goes back to sleep.  If I don't go in, she just screams & doesn't give up.

What do I do?  I'm about to lose it.

  • Have you read the Ferber book? It changed my life. Seriously.

  • Loading the player...
  • how tired are you? and does she FF?
  • sleep training - Ferber, CIO, etc!!

We did CIO - 1 bad night, 2 so-so nights - everybody STTN!

  • I think you should at least read Ferber. Even if you don't decide to follow it, he teaches you a lot.

  • DH and I just got the DVD that accompanies The Sleep Easy Solution. We will be watching it tonight.

Thus far, I really like what the book has to say, and we're going to start implementing it next Friday (we're OOT this weekend, so we don't want to start now).

You might want to check it out.

    I like privacy. A lot.
  • I BF, and she won't take a bottle.

Thanks ladies; I'll look into Ferber.  Is she too young to start?

This.  Also read the Pantley book and the Weissbluth book.

  • Ferber or Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child...both CIO, a little different methods.  How long have you let her cry when you don't go in?  I've been reading and most of the time when that doesn't work, it's b/c a parent will wait 10-15 min and then comfort their child-teaching their child that they need to cry for 10-15 min before they get comforted. Try to feed her more during the day so she wakes up hungry less.

  • She cried for about 30 minutes this morning...I wasn't comfortable letting her go longer.  I know that it's teaching her just that.  I have HSHHC...not sure I'm comfortable with that.  She eats constantly during the day, which is probably why she wants to eat all night.

I'm off to bed.  Thanks again.
