Infertility

Sorry, another IVF/acupuncture question (SAIF welcome)

My acupuncturist always puts a heat lamp over my pelvic area after all the needles are in.  This is my 1st IVF cycle so I'm over cautious about everything.  Obviously the lamp isn't touching my skin but it's about 6-8 inches away from my skin.  So I guess it's not as bad as using a heating pad.  With my last 2ww after doing an IUI, I told her not to use the heat.  I was concerned about the heat destroying any possible embryos.  She seemed surprised by that.  I always thought you shouldn't use heat like that during your 2ww.  So with IVF, do I need to avoid the heat lamp with acupuncture and if so, at what point?  Should I avoid the heat lamp when starting stims, just before ER or just after ET?  TIA!

  • I didn't have any heat after ER.  We just did needles.

  • I haven't had my ER yet, so I don't know if my acupuncturist would use the heat lamp then or not.  But I just wanted to say thanks for posting this because I might not have thought of it and now I'm going to tell her no heat lamp after ET.  The nurse today told me no heating pad on the belly after transfer, so I don't think it's a good idea.
