Just got a phone call of a very angry friend..

telling me about her babysitter letting her ds cry it out.. i figured this would happen. they trade sitting for each other and the mom told her to let her 3 month old just cry for as long as it took to fall asleep.. my friend of course didnt do it as she doesnt believe in CIO so she would rock and love and eventually get him down to sleep.. now come to find out after being told its not what they do her friend did it anyway.. she is so upset that her son has been neglected (her words) and is never letting her watch him again.

she found out because their DH's work together and he said man your DS was really upset last night cried for over and hour till he finally passed out.. 

ugh! 

i know this is a controversial subject being CIO and all but how pissed would you be if someone did that your lo.

I CIO but not at 3 months!  I would be extremley pissed if I told someone to not do something and they did it anyways!

No he is 5 1/2 months but the other baby is 3 months.. she was so angry.. she called me just to vent before she exploded..

I would be really pissed because CIO at 3 months is way too young and regardless of how old the baby is if it against the parent's wishes I'd be super pissed.

When interviewing my sitter I specifically asked about CIO and thankfully she doesn't believe in it (at any age).  I believe in it at certain age, but DD doesn't stop crying and I can't stand to listen to her cry for more than 20-30 minutes at a time.  So DD has yet to CIO, although we've left her cry for short periods of time. 

ETA: We didn't let her cry b/f 7 or 8 months of age.

wow. 5.5m is still too young for pure CIO, imo.  Not that it matters. You don't just ignore the parent's wishes, you know?

I wouldn't let her watch my kid anymore, either.

I would be so pissed! It's one thing if you want to CIO with your own child... but to do it with someone else's LO when the parent don't believe in that?! And letting them cry for over an hour... poor baby!

To play devil's advocate, I would be pissed if I was trying to do CIO with my kid and the sitter disregarded my wishes on the matter. They are both out of line.

she did her own research and saw that three months is way too young and refused to contribute to what she views as neglect.
