Not liking Mirena too much

My face is breaking out and it almost never does. I THINK i have my period again and just had it 3 weeks ago. But then again maybe this is just some bright red spotting! I dont know what the hll is going on.

My husband just switched jobs and doesnt have insurance again until the 17th. He said the thought something rubbed him funny last weekend so Im wondering if it is in the wrong place!

I dont think I like it. Hopefully it will get better. Ive only had it since June.

  • Have you checked your strings?? the only place is can go is out. In which case you would feel longer strings or even the IUD its self.

MyDr never mentioned checking for strings. HOw far up should they be? I was supposed to go back to have it checked after my 1st period but I got my 1st period 2 days before my insurance ended. Now I dont have insurance until the 17th. i scheduled an appointment for the 19th.

    Are these strings softs?

Im just wondering and this is way TMI but las night I noticed a spot on Dhs 'member' that looked as if it was missing a tiny piece of skin. When I pointed it out he said that he thought he felt something over the weekend.

This isn't necessarily true; mine was displaced but I could not feel the strings at all.

I would go have the position checked, but it was probably just the strings that your DH felt. ?I liked my Mirena a lot better once I'd had it for a few months-- no more spotting, etc.?

As far as I know, not feeling any strings is bad too. I would have been worried that it came out. (i should have mentioned this too) What do you mean by displaced?

To the OP. We tell our patients to check for their strings at least every month. Preferably after their menses. I think the strings feel similar to thin fishing string. (plastic-y) We have them feel them in the clinic and if they ever feel shorter or longer they should call us for an appointment. Strings that are too long can sometime poke a partner but they can usually be trimmed down. I have never heard or the strings breaking skin though.

  • ::shrugs:: All I know is that it got out of position somehow, I couldn't feel the strings, and I got pregnant. ?They had to remove it because I was pregnant and I asked that they not tell me any details because I was scared to death to have it removed.

Im guessing you work for an ob/gyn.  If so I have another question. I actually posted last week but I dont think you responded.

I have had non stop spotting. Sometime all these little brown clumps come out on the TP. I dont believe it is blood clots. Its a light brown. The other night after being with dh there was a ton of it. What is it and is it normal?

I do not work for an OB/GYN. I work at a low income clinic. We just do a lot of birth control because we have a program that offers free birth control to people who qualify.

Light brown discharge sounds to me like old blood. sometimes all the fluids from sex just helps bring it out. (sorry for the TMI) That being said, anything that is not normal for you should be brought to your providers attention. Vaginal spotting is almost always nothing to worry about but could be a symptom of an infection. And any infection is worse with an IUD because of the risk of "pelvic inflammatory disease"

Hope that was helpfull. But I would call my provider just to be safe.

OMG!!! That would be my luck!

  • just wait it out a few months, i have had a period in 4+ months.  you can have the stings tucked into the cervix with just a little out, he wont feel it then. they leave the strings long so the can check it when you go back.

the acne is probably due to your hormones still adjusting. it can take up to a year to settle down.
