? about egg quality

Is there any correlation between the size of follicles and the quality of eggs?  Also, is there a certain size for follicles that it is safe to assume an egg will be released?

Re: ? about egg quality

  • The size of your follicles will not tell you anything about their quality.  They will only tell you if they are "mature looking" in size.  Your RE can better determine if they are mature by testing your estrogen levels.   I have had dozens of mature sized follicles over the last 2 years, and have had nothing but poor quality.

  • Forgot to add....mature follicles are typically at least 15mm.

  • I agree. Though I would say that I had 13 follicles that were greater than 15 mm at retrieval and they got 12 eggs but only 8 were mature.  my E2 was 2100 too so you would have thought more would be mature.  You just won't know until they get them out and look at them. Good luck
