IHO Mrs.Bible: What's so hard about calling if you're

not gonna show for your scheduled appointment? Between yesterday and today, I had 8 appts. Four of them no-showed. Four. Over the last week, it's nearly triple that.

I get that things come up, and I get that people run late. I am notorious for both of these things. But it's so rude to not call and give a head's up before, during, or even after a scheduled appointment time.

Is this that unreasonable?

  • I think that is very rude. I cannot imagine not calling.

    What do you do?

I had a no show once.  I found it VERY odd.

  • OKAY...OH MY GOODNESS....I hate that...I really do...it is one of my biggest pet peeves...
  • SO rude. That said...I totally forgot about my haircut last week. Until yesterday.
  • That is so rude. They wouldn't be getting another appointment in the future.
  • I hate when people do this too, but on the other hand when I was pg I had to get off 1.5 hours early from work, go home and get my 1st day's pee for every appointment, then go to the doctor and wait. Well, on more than 1 occasion when I got to the doctor's office it turns out he had to leave to deliver a baby. I TOTALLY get that, but would it have killed the receptionist to call me and let me know before I did all that to get there on time with my sample? Frustrating.

I'm trying to figure it out. I'm thinking about instituting a policy that after 2 no shows, you have to wait at least 2 weeks to make another appointment.

    ?

I know right! I swear to you I am the only person on earth who's doctor NEEDS the 1st morning's urine sample. Super annoying, I always had to stop by home and get it out of the frig.

  • I really hate this as well. I often stay late for parent/ teacher conferences and many times parents have not shown up after I have sent multiple reminders home and marked it in their child's planner. I put in so much extra time with my job already that it is insulting!

I was actually asking about your occupation :) Stylist? Realtor?
