What do you do when LO is awake?

DD is almost 3 weeks old, and I'm not sure what to do with her when she is awake, but not eating. I feel super guilty laying her in her crib or bassinet or even her bouncy chair. I feel like she should have human contact while she is awake, but it makes it difficult to do anything except sit here in front of the computer or TV. She's not strong enough to do much tummy time yet. Just curious what you did when LO was this young.

  • Talk to her, sing to her, show her things, walk her around the house.

  • Sing or read to her, play music, wear her in a wrap or a sling, play with her hands and feet, make funny faces at her, rattle toys in front of her.  At that age they can't interact very much so just try to stimulate them any way you can.  It is ok to put her in her swing or bouncer too so you can get things done.  In a few more weeks she will need a lot more attention.

  • It's ok to put her down in a swing or a bouncy seat to get things done.  Otherwise talk to her, show her things, sing, etc.  DD loves going out in the backyard hearing outside noises, etc.

  • Jenerally lets her kids run around and eat paste while she is on the computer.
