I went ahead and ordered one. I'm renting the one from dynamicdoppler.com that has the screen that shows the bpm. I'm very excited but was curious about one thing:
On the site, it says to ask you OB before beginning use. Is there some sort of harm it can cause? Or is it just to let them know? I'm curious why you would need to tell you OB. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just have no clue....
TIA
Re: Question about dopplers
If you've never used one, it can be hard to distinquish between arteries and veins - both yours and the baby's. Your OB can help you find the right sounds. "Whoosh" is a vein, and arteries sound like a heartbeat. The baby's will be over 140 bpm and sound like a galloping horse. You can also pick up the umbilical veins, which will show beats/min over 140, but will sound like a whoosh. Once you've heard the HB once, you'll never forget that sound
This
?
I think because there's no evidence that it's 100% safe (although that applies to pretty much everything in life) and they don't want lawsuits, like pp said. I'm trying to only use mine like 2-3 times per week at most.
You are going to love it though!!!
