Infertility

SA results and ?

We got the results of DH's SA and everything looked really good. My RE said anything over 20 million is normal and he had 120 million and for mobility anything over 50% is good and he had 65%.  The other two things they check were really good I just can't remember what they were.

The one thing she did say was that he had white blood cells in his sample which is a sign of an infection...not an STD or anything like that but that sometimes men can get infections in there genital tract.  She prescribed him an antibiotic and said thats all he will need.  She also said the infection COULD be a reason for not getting pregnant but couldn't say for sure.  Has anyonebody else dealt with this.  I really hope after his antibiotics that will make a difference and get me KU : )

Re: SA results and ?

  • We/I was dx w/ ureaplasma... a common microb that can (not always) cause unexplained infertility. DH & I took a 10 day course of antibiotics and that was it. We had no signs or symptoms of having it - it just came up in standard RE testing.

Not sure if what your DH has is exactly the same thing.... but like your doctor said, it's nothing to worry about. It'll clear up lickity-split.

They found it in my DH in his SA.

  • We have been and still are dealing with this. My husband's first SA was 6/25 and he had too many WBCs then and he has had two since then (the latest being Tuesday) and it is still there. He's been on 3 rounds of antibiotics and they haven't helped. He is being refered to a urologist.

I hope this isn't the case for your husband! I hope his clears up right away. But our RE is fairly confident that the infection/WBCs are part of the reason why his morphology is so low.

TTC #1 since June 2008 *SAIFW*

TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs

My RE didn't say that my DH would have to do another SA to determine if the infection goes away so now I am concerned that we won't know if the antibiotics help.  My DH's numbers were all very good though so maybe I will talk to my RE again and ask if they are going to do another test to make sure it goes away.
