How to tell parents the sex??

So, my husband and I live about 1100 miles away from our families. When we find out the sex in September we don't want it to be just a normal phone call with "It's a ______". I'd like to send them packages with something pink in one and something blue in the other and let them know to open package 1 or 2 when we call. The thing is, I don't know what to put in the packages. I was thinking M&M's but I don't want those to melt waiting around for a couple days?

Any ideas? And if your a long way away from your parents what cute way did you use to tell them?

Re: How to tell parents the sex??

  • You could send a pink or blue onesie with a grandparents saying to them.
  • Loading the player...
  • Kinda cheesy...but do they make T-shirts or mugs or something that say "I have a grandaughter/son on the way"....or something like that.

  • bib's, socks, onsies???
  • What about a onesie or bib that says something about grandson or granddaughter? Or something about loving the grandparents in pink and blue. Just be sure to keep the tags on them so you can return the one you don't need!

  • Well in box 1 you could stick ALL girly things in it, hair bows, pink bottles, ect... Then the next well be ALL blue!! It would be cute!! And you don't have to spend a lot, just visit the dollar store :)
  • I'm in Ohio, and sent this to my mom in Florida:

I found a florist that was able to deliver the same day (within 3 hours!)

  • WHAT A SUPER CUTE IDEA!!!! I WISH I WAS THAT CREATIVE! WE FIND OUT ON THIS WEDNESDAY! I DON'T THINK THAT IS ENOUGH TIME TO SEND A PACKAGE!

SUPER CUTE! I like the idea of a onesie and that one with the hairbows and little stuff from the dollar store!

  • I'm doing this too.  My parents, inlaws and grandparents are 1700 miles away.  I bought cute little booties at wally world today.  I got a spool of satin ribbon and a yarn needle.  I plan to string the 2 booties together with a bow to make it a Christmas ornament.  My families are HUGE on Christmas and since little one wont be born til January, the babies first Christmas ornaments weren't a perfect fit yet.  Of course I couldn't find tiny boxes to put them in so I headed over to the jewelry department and they let me buy bracelet boxes for a quarter a piece.  I'll package everything up and ship it out tomorrow morning.

    Have fun!
