2nd Trimester

When did you start wearing maternity clothes?

I'm a little over 15 weeks and still in my pre-pg clothes. I've gained 3 pounds and they aren't even really tight, a little towards the end of the day. Is something wrong with me? LoL

Is anyone else in the second tri and not even gone up a normal size yet? Thanks

Re: When did you start wearing maternity clothes?

  • Bloating makes your clothes tight by the end of the day

Everyone is different.  I was in mat pants by week 12 and had completely outgrown all my regular shirts by 19 weeks.

  • I was around the same week or a little before. I just decided to start wearing them to feel more comfortable ( I know I did not show a bump at the time, but nothing elese that I wore fit).

  • I can still get into mine but they're tight.  And I'm up 1/2 lb. so far.  I have maternity clothes now that I'm wearing just because they are more comfortable but I could have gotten by for a bit longer.  A BIT.  I do live and die by my Be-Band, though.
  • I also didn't change in size (well at least at the Motherhood store) for regular clothes I can fit in a Medium, I'm usually wearing a Small.

  • i havnt yet but have been gettign away with dresses loose blouses that I wore pre-preg. Will definitely be shopping SOON.

  • I just started wearing maternity pants this week but all my shirts still fit. I imagine in a few more weeks I'll be all maternity.
  • I'm still not in them; have just been wearing lots of dresses. I plan to go shopping next weekend at 17 weeks (hopefully they'll have some fall stuff out by then since I don't want to buy summery things that I can only wear for a month or so).

  • i am 15 weeks, 4 days and still wearing my normal clothes, had been losing weight from the beginning and from weighing myself the other day have only gained a pound back. But my skinny jeans are getting tight at the waist, its frustrating.

  • I had some major bloat going on and made the switch to maternity clothes at 10 weeks.  Some of them were pretty big on me.... but I was comfortable!

  • Week 17 I started wearing maternity clothes. I can still wear my pre-pg skirts but I can't fit in my jeans anymore. Maternity tops also fit me way better than my pre-pg tops.

  • I just retired my only NON maternity pants....But, I think I wore them too long.  Maternity pants are just more comfortable.  I think I started wearing them around 18 weeks.

  • Still in all my normal clothes. I have nothing to show for being nearly 15 weeks pregnant:(  I am hoping to get through summer with not having to buy new stuff and then I can just buy one season (well fall/wintery) clothes.

  • I only really bought one pair of maternity back stretch Gap jeans and one pair of pants. I just went and got a bunch of trapeze tops and baby doll tops up a size (stupid big knockers) and I'm using those along with my normal jeans (with a rubber band of course)
  • I was lucky enough to find some clothes with elastic band waists at old navy.  They are capri's but its nice to have something comfortable to wear on my days off.  I still fit in some of my pre-pg clothes but slowly have been putting them to the back of the closet.  I have worn some maternity jeans though since my jeans no longer fit.

  • I can still wear my pre-pg clothes, but I can't wear my pre-pg pants at all! I miss them!

I've been wearing maternity pants since like week 8, because of all the bloat

  • By 10 weeks I was wearing a rubberband on the button of my pants.  12 or so I did the Bella Band with regular tops just becuase of the end-of-the-day-bloat.

I'm still in my non-pg pants with a Bella Band (but they don't zip) and I'm wearing mostly maternity tops.

  • Once I realized how comfy maternity pants were at 19 weeks I never went back to my regular pants.

  • I've been wearing a mix of some of my "fat" pants/jeans, dresses and a few maternity pants since about 9 weeks.  I wasn't showing until this week, but I was busting out of all my pants and I didn't like looking like I had muffin top.  All me pp clothes fit perftect and if I gained 2 pounds they would be snug.  That's how I kept my body in check before!  I am up 6 pounds now and with the bump I got this week there is a definite pull in the front, so I doubt my fat pants will even fit after this week.  I wear all my regular shirts still, but in a lot of them this week you can see the bump.  I am trying to hold off on shirts until September at least when fall stuff comes out.
  • First time around I was 16 weeks when I switched to maternity stuff, but I didn't look like I even needed it.  I've seen the question asked a lot on the boards and that time frame is not unusual for first pregnancies.

  • I don't fit into some of my jeans anymore, but some I still do so I still wear them.

I did buy a few pairs of maternity dress pants, and because they were way nicer than my usual office attire, I've been wearing those more.  I'll wear those after the baby too, they are really nice.

Shirts are still fine, but my boobs have outgrown some things.

  • when I was in first tri I was super bloated and my pants were getting tight. I finally got some maternity jeans at 13 weeks or so but I probably could of kept using the rubber band trick. Maternity pants are just SO COMFY and after 13 weeks I kept getting bigger and bigger and I couldn't even zip my pants. I never got a bella band i just went straight to maternity jeans. Most of my shirts still fit though!

  • I was in pants by around week 15. Not sure exactly, but around there. I could still wear my regular jeans too until about 2 weeks ago.

Not wearing any maternity shirts yet. Just layering long tanks underneath as my shirts are getting short.

  • 12 weeks.  My pre-preg clothes were fitting just fine and I was losing weight, but the pressure of a button/zipper on my abdomen was unbearable.  I guess my little bump started form about then.

  • All of my clothes fit.  I am starting to get a little bump - but nothing is what I would consider tight on me.  my pants still fit and I even still wear a belt.

  • I'm still wearing my regular clothes and pretty comfortable. I'm planning to hold off on the switch as long as I can because I feel like I'm going to be pretty tired of my limited selection of maternity wear 5 months from now!

  • Everyone is different... I didn't start wearing maternity clothing until about 24 weeks.
  • I bought maternity pants two days ago, and they are WONDERFUL!  To most people I'm not even recognizably pregnant, but the maternity pants make a world of difference in comfort.  LOVE them!
