Babies: 9 - 12 Months

My mom said I need to work on my saddlebags

She came to watch dd's last day of swimming yesterday so she saw me in a bathing suit. I called her this morning to ask her a question and somehow it turned into "Honey I notice your saddlebags need a bit of work". Jaw.on.the.floor. Gee thanks Mom. This is the same women who said to me right before my wedding day, "How much do you weigh?" Me, "119 lbs" Her, "oh. I weighed 117 for my wedding day! HA!"

I hate her today.

Re: My mom said I need to work on my saddlebags

  • Sally- your mom is not right in the head. Please limit your time and communication with her. ?Seriously that's not normal. ?

  • wow, that's just mean.
  • OMG! I'd hate her too if I were you.  obv she has body issues and is trying to drag you down with her.
  • Um, I would have crawled through that phone and punched my mom in the face.  Yep.  My mom.  punched.in.the.face.
  • Whatever. Your DD is only 7 mo old...even if she wasn't that is totally uncalled for. I can't imagine my parents (or anyone) telling me that.
  • Not to sound mean because it is your mother and I'm sure you love it, but she clearly has issues with her own self.  My mom would NEVER in a million years even think of saying something like that!
  • My Mom has more issues then I can count. I wish I was brave enough to cut communications with her. It's hard though.

But I have thick skin, most days the crap she says just rolls off my back. Most days, but not really today lol

  • So sorry!  Your mom and my mom should get together.  The last time she visited me (when DS was 5 months), she told me I still looked about 4 months pregnant.  The woman has no filter.  Whatever thought pops into her brain comes out of her mouth.
  • That sucks.  My mom does that sh!t too so I know exactly how you feel.  She is always saying you need to quit wearing sports bras they smash your boobs, you look awful.  She actually went to the extreme of buying me a bra so I wouldn't wear sports bras.  I freaking hate it.  I have told her a million times that I wear sports bras and other comfortable bras for COMFORT, I don't care if they smash my boobs.  She said I just don't want your boobs to sag to the floor when your my age.  WTH? How is wearing a sports bra going to make my boobs sag more when I'm 50.  I am only a C cup to begin with.  Anyway she is always making comments about my hair or my boobs or my weight or whatever.  So I feel your pain.  She has been doing this since I was like 12.
  • That's terrible. Could you imagine saying something like that to your DD? I'm sure you already know this, but she has serious body issues.
  • That's so horrible, Sally!  My jaw is dropped, too.  If she always puts you down like that, you need to have a serious talk with her!
  • Wow, my mom is like that... except she's more passive aggressive.  She's a serious narcissist, and weights 98lbs SOAKING WET.

And she's always been in competition with me.  I will NEVER do that to my DD, that's all we can take from it.

  • Yeah I agree with everyone else.  Even though my mom is so negative to me I will never do that to my DD.
  • Sad I'm sorry. Both my parents say things like that to me and always have. I will never say such terrible things to DD.

  • I would tell my moms that she is gonna need to work on that fat lip I'm about to give her.  You weigh 119, thats what my left leg weighs.  No worries sweetie.
  • Let this be a lesson to all of us with daughters.
