TTC after 35

WDYT think about my CBEFM and OPK results?

This is my first month using the CBEFM.  I really like it!  So, as you have guessed, I have some questions, and you ladies always have such great answers!

I got a few high days, and two peak days on the CBEFM.  On my two peak days, I got positive OPKs.  Today, my CBEFM indicates a high day, but my OPK still says positive.  My temp went up about .5 degree from yesterday.  Have I already ovulated?  If I have already ovulated, why is my OPK positive?  Any thoughts?  Should I have sex this morning or is tonight okay?  TIA!

On a similar note, we had sex the night before last.  I ask my hubs to BD this morning.  He is not cooperating.  He says he has a meeting he can't miss, and he thinks he will be shooting blanks anyway.  Apparently he did his own research, which said that sperm takes 3 days to get back to full capacity.  Does your DH do his own research and think he knows everything?  :)

Re: WDYT think about my CBEFM and OPK results?

  • I don't know the answer to your CBEFM question but YES my dh researches everything!!  He's always quoting studies to the point where it's a joke between us - whenever we hear some crazy, off the wall remark about something we'll look at each other and say "They've done studies".  Huh, that's probably not as funny to anyone else as it is to us Smile

  • This is also my first month using the CBEFM, so I can't offer you any advice on that just yet...BUT, i can tell you what mom keeps saying:  "just DO IT all the time - THAT'S how you make a baby".

     she's super helpful.

  • I've never heard the 3 day thing.  Every doctor I've talked to has said to BD every other day.  That's about all the advice I have.  Good luck!

  • I would definitely BD tonight.  The monitor and OPK's are measuring your LH surge which means that you are likely to ovulate around 36 hrs after the surge but it could be anwhere from 1-3 days after the surge...I know, I wish it were more exact too!!!

As far as the temp goes, you will need to see a sustained rise in your temp to indicate ovulation. I know FF does not give the "cross hairs" until you have 3 days of a sustained temp elevation.

My RE says the sex 3 times a week or every other day is sufficient for baby making.  Of course if you are inclined to increase the frequency that shouldn't be a problem as long as there are no male fertility issues.

Good luck...hopefully DH rested up this morning and will be ready for action tonight...Embarrassed

  • I am much better with a visual (Do you have a chart to share?) but a few thoughts:

Usually, if the monitor went back to high AND your temp went up it would be safe to assume you have ovulated. Above all else, the temp is the indicator.

That said....that temp needs to stay up for 3 days. AND, you have a positive OPK, and it is your first month using the CBEFM.

So, all and all, a few more days of temping will tell. And I'll give you my standard advise in situations like this:

    When in doubt: hump.

    GL.

  • I was going to repond almost exactly as Cathy did.  She beat me to it.  I'm  not sure I would have said "when in doubt, hump", but something along those lines. :)

    LMAO!  Love it!

I'll share my chart -- just need to figure out how to do that....

  • once the monitor gives you the FIRST peak, it automatically gives you the second peak and then one high. I stop poas after the first peak.

With that being said, I do hope you bd'd. Just because you ovulated doesn't mean you still don't have a chance. I've read the "window" can be 7-10 DAYS so definitely keep bd'ing!

I had a rigorous bd schedule this past month. We did every other day until O, then had IUI and bd'd that night and the following three days (wanted to do four days but just didn't have it in me and figured the egg was long gone by then!). I didn't want to take a chance to miss something!

Good luck, can't wait to hear news about your bfp in two wks! ;-)

oh, my DH does not do anything on the net that is not sports related. I guess this is good but sometimes it'd be nice for him to KNOW something that I didn't tell him!?
