Re: ~~Bed Rest Mama's Friday Check In!~~

  • No updates. Next appointment on Monday.

QOTD: What has been something you have discovered since being on bed rest that you enjoy (tv show, hobby, web site)?

I had never seen Cake Boss before bed rest and I love it... it is a show on TLC about a family that owns a bakery in Brooklyn. They make crazy cakes and I am in awe... makes me want to learn how to make cakes. I have also discovered a channel called Investigation Discovery on Direct TV... there is always something good on there if you like mystery shows like 48 hours, Dateline, etc... I have my regular websites but have not really found anything new that I have to visit all the time. I was taught how to knit and I am not claiming to love it - I messed up about 5 minutes after the girl who taught me left and she has not been back so that hobby is on hold.....

  • Hi, I need to be added to the list...for now anyway?

    ?

    Name: Cindy (Timmylulu)
    EDD:?Oct 16
Type of BR:?Wasn't specified, but for the next week I can use the bathroom, shower, make lunch, go to Dr appt and my baby shower this weekend
    Since when:?Aug 7 (29w6d)
Reason:?History of loss at 21 wks, reason unknown, but I went into labor early and Baby Boy was too young to live. ?This pg I have been getting P17 shots weekly starting at 16 wks and biweekly u/s starting at the same time. ?At my visit last week my cervix shortened from about 30-31 to 29, but when pressure was applied it went to 27 so Dr wants me off my feet.

I will be getting an FFN test on Monday and then dr will assess whether I should remain on BR or not.?

  • No new updates for myself, hooray...

I have perfected the art of online shopping! So far I have been able to do back to school shopping for my daughter, who will be in 1st grade (Crying) and buy the final few things we needed for baby WHILE saving a bunch of money!

I may never go to the store again Wink

  • No updates, but I found out that theres a rumor going around my work that I won't be coming back to work at all. Which is upsetting to me...of course I am coming back...I can't afford not to! My boss and I have discussed me working 3 days instead of 4, but I will be back in mid-October! I hate rumors.

QOTD-I can't think of anything new I like, but I will tell you I am super surprised at how much I have to keep me busy. My to do list of calls to make, errands to arrange, etc. is kind of overwhelming and I honestly think we wont get everything done before baby comes, so just imagine if I had been working 4 days a week. I still haven't even packed my hospital bag!

  • Update: ?Nothing major since yesterday. ?I was taken of BR! ?Yay! ?Doc wants me to exercise, so I have been walking around the house and doing leg lifts, sitting instead of laying down, stretching, and doing squats. ?I get so tired so quickly, but I breakdown the activity into 15-20 minute increments, then I sit instead of lay down - which is an effort. ?I have been on BR so long, I was so excited to do a couple loads of laundry this morning, feed the dog, let him out in the back yard, water my herb garden, and straightening out the living room. ?I never thought I'd find so much pleasure in doing these things! ?BR does strange things!

?QOTD: ?I don't know that I necessarily discovered anything because of BR - I've always liked online shopping and movies, reading, etc. ?BUT, because of BR, I have come to appreciate so many of the things I took for granted: ?extended showers, eating while sitting up, going out with my husband, spending time with our dog, spending time with my girlfriends, shopping for baby's stuff...I have missed so much in the past 13 weeks because of BR that I get so giddy at the most inconsequential activites. ???

  • Congratulations Ramella for being off BR!

No new updates. My sister has DS for the next 5 hrs so I am excited to have a quiet house. Normally he is with his babysitter running all around so this is a nice change.

QOTD: I haven't gotten into any new hobbies, but I have been doing a lot of research for future events like creating Christmas lists and trying to figure out what the boys will be for Halloween. I am also planning LOs baptism, which won't be until January and thinking about where we want to go for a beach week next summer. Also a lot of online shopping.

Thank you! ?So I read that you are considering Halloween costumes. ?I have to share www.onestepahead.com We get the paper catalog here at home and they have the best looking costumes for little kids I've seen - even infants (we're excited to pick one of for our little boy, just deciding which one he'll be). ?We personally havent purchased anything from this site, yet, but they seem to have all sorts of baby and kids stuff as well, and reasonably priced. ?We'll definitely be purchasing the Halloween costumes here as we don't have any actual stores with as wide a selection of infant costumes.?

Butting in: - the lion in the one step ahead catalog is sooo cute! Not sure what I am picking for my DS yet... but thinking of ordering from there or getting something from cracker barrel oddly, they have great costumes too!

  • Arent they so cute?! ?The lion is also one of my favorites! ?You just cant help but want to cuddle that little guy! ?I say there's no rule that they only have one costume... :) ?I'll be checking out cracker barrel too...thank you!
  • Update: We got our car seat bases installed today.  We are touring 2 daycares this weekend.  Breastfeeding class is also this weekend.  Had my lectures today.  We were doing simulation. I sat while everyone stood.  I got some curious looks from a few people.  The only time I stood was while I was practicing forceps.  I have not done those in a long time.  I was excited to learn how to do Essure.  It is super easy and fun.  I miss work :(  Next appointment Monday.

QOTD: I like having a life outside work, no matter how much I say I miss work.  There is no way I would have gotten everything done while working my old schedule.  I mean, so many appointments are during the week or on a weekend-- I worked almost every weekend, so it would have been impossible.  So having a life is my favorite activity.  I also like crocheting.  I have made a bunch of stuff.  It is fun.

  • As for the One Step Ahead catalog, that's what got me in the spirit of Halloween. I am loving the monkey and lion costumes. Jack was a lion last year (I got a fantastic one at Party City) but I think this one has a cuter mane. I don't have any Cracker Barrel's near me but I wish I did. Do you think you think the small would be too big? I wasn't sure if an August baby would work in 6-12 mos but some of those are my favorites.

They are very cute! ?I'd still get it. ?I'm due 9/3, but I think I'll have an Aug baby - I'd get the small since it says 12-19 lbs. ?I figured that I can always make alterations to if it looks too loose. ?The shrimp and lobster costumes are for infants are cute too. ?:)?
