Can Endo raise your FSH Levels?

Morning!

I am 11DPO and what am I doing to forget about testing and whether I'm pregnant? I'm going over my test results to drive myself crazy!

My infertility specialist said that my lap and hestoroscopy were a great success and that he was able to remove all mild endo and scarring int he womb.  He said my ovarian reserve was "reassuring" and my progesterone levels were nice and high.  He was also happy with the monitering cycle they did and I O'd on CD13 that cycle.

Anyway, my FSH levels though were 13.5 which is high.  How can my ovraian reserve be "resassuring" if my FSH level is high?

I started to google this morning and I read that Endo can sometime artifically raise your FSH levels.

Has anyone esle read/heard this?

Thanks!

Re: Can Endo raise your FSH Levels?

  • That was cycle day 3 FSH?  There is talk about endo affecting the quality of the eggs, but FSH is ovarian reserve and I've never heard of it affecting that.  Remember that FSH is just 1 number, you need your LH number and the follicle count at the beginning of the cycle.  It just means you need to be aggressive in your treatment plan (don't dawdle around long before moving onto things like IVF) and likely it might mean paying for a bit more medication to stimulate you.

  • I hadn't heard of it affecting FSH, but I had heard of it possibly affecting egg quality, making the outside shell brittle and hard to penetrate.  The embryologist said it's b.c the endometria can restrict o2 flow to the eggs.
  • I have mild endo which was removed after a lap.  My Fsh was anywhere between 9 to 11.  Because of my elevated Fsh and being only 29 at the time my RE suspected that I might have endo and suggested that I think about having the surgery.  I was unexplained at the time.  I had a good antra follicle count and all other hormone levels were normal.

I have to tell you that I was obsessed with FSH, egg quality, ovarian reserve... I did alot of research and never really came up with too much.  There are soo many grey areas and different opinions about it.

I did not respond well to clomid, only developing one mature egg each time.  Which I did naturely on my own.  But Injectibles worked well for me (Bravelle).  Each time I had a nice response and the cycle that I got my BFP was twins but one stopped growing at 6weeks.  So there is hope out there.  Hang in there!

After 2 years TTC with mild endo and an elevated FSH. We were successful with our second IUI after Lap surgery. Our daughter born 12/2009. Currently trying for #2. IUI#1-miscarriage, IUI #2-BFN, IUI #3- BFP Pregnancy Ticker

Thanks so much to all of you!!

Yes, that was CD3 FSH.  He did the full blood work up but I don't know what my LH was, I may go back and check.  That is the same cycle they monitered me and found 12 follicles that were all growing well and I O'd on CD13.

     Thanks again ladies!!!
