2 BF questions

1. I accidentally left pumped BM out today for about an hour and a half. When I got home, I immediately put it in the fridge. Think it's ok?

2. DD has just recently started chowing down on one boob and then barely getting anything out of boob two. I'm ok with one sided feedings, but the engorgement in between is killing me. It'll even out soon, right?

Re: 2 BF questions

  • 1. the info on my pump stuff says it should be ok.

    2. you might want to pump right after you feed LO... it might help with the engorgement! GL

  • 1. It'll be fine. I would probably use that before my other stored milk, but it should be fine (unless you left in the sun at high temp.).

    2. Does she normally feed one side? I would wait it out because it will help your body regulate better. You can pump it, but it's a short term fix.

  • 1. FRESH just pumped milk is good for 6 hours, I believe. ?Use kellymom.com as a great resource.

    2. If one boob is producing less ALWAYS pump on that side first and it`ll help up the production on that side. ?Once they finish on the low producing side, offer the other one.

Keep up with it. ?It`ll even out and become much easier soon.?

  • No sun, it was in the shadey bedroom.

And I was afraid that pumping would prolong the pain, although, maybe I should do it just to get my freezer supply stocked. Hmmm.
