I was watching the news a few minutes ago and they said something about how when they made the swine flu vaccine in the 70's that the vaccine killed more people than the flu did. They also said that they're much better at making vaccines now though. I just assumed I would get it, without giving it much thought.

No, I never get the flu vaccination. I didn't while pregnant either and I never ended up with it and I'm perfectly fine! I don't buy into all of that flu vaccination stuff....I don't want to be given a live virus and have my body fight it off when it may not even be the correct strand of the flu when I get it...there is more than one flu out there...the Swine Flu is just another one. Id on't know why the news makes such a huge deal out of it!
Not a chance. This vaccine is being pushed through waaay too quickly for my comfort. Not that vaccines are overly tested in the first place, but this one makes me nervous. I'm an ER nurse and haven't gotten the flu or the flu shot for several years.
I am in the medical field and get the flu shot every year and think that all parents should be getting it. That being said, I once told myself in college "I will never take a drug in its first year on the market." There is so much that is learned about drugs during post-marketing surveilance. I will wait till next flu season to get it (assuming it will still be necessary and that it turns out to be mostly safe.)
Trying for #2 since July 2010 BFP 8/1/10, missed m/c, D&C 9/15/10. BFP 1/8/11, chemical pregnancy. BFP 3/4/11, measured behind all along, no more HB 4/18/11. D&C 4/29/11. HCG didn't drop, Repeat D&C 6/17/11; confirmed molar pregnancy 6/23/11. Forced break, including two Hysteroscopies in October to remove retained tissue. BFP 12/29/11! Betas @ 10 dpo = 85, 14 dpo= 498, 22 dpo = 7242 Heard HB 1/24/12. 144 bpm!

I'm shocked that you're not required to get it. My hospital requires direct contact staff to get flu vaccine every year unless specifically contraindicated. I'd be pi$$ed if I were a immunocompromised patient and I get flu from my caregiver.
That said, yes, I'll get the vaccine.

Probably not. I can't get the regular flu vaccine because I'm allergic to eggs. I assume it'll be the same for the swine flu vaccine. I'll have to check into it further.
Re: Will you get the swine flu vaccination?
Charlie Gibson...that's what made me post this.
