  • I'm in the same boat! I was just diagnosed on Tuesday, and of course all I can think of is all of the awesome food I won't be able to eat anymore!! I am such a sweets girl, this is not going to be fun!

  • I've been controlling mine with diet for about 4 weeks now. You'll learn different substitutions and what works for one person may not work as well for you as far as food choices, substitutions and combinations. One thing that works for me is to not deprive myself. For example, at my shower we had these outrageous sugar cookies. Rather than not have any at all, I had 1/2 and went without the croissant for my chicken salad. I didn't feel deprived but yet I didn't feel guilty either. There will be compromises you'll have to make as far as diet goes, but its all in the best interest of your baby. Also, make sure to read labels - SIL got me some sugar free gummi bears thinking they would be a treat, but a serving still has 33 carb grams because they have glucose syrup in them. I spend more time reading the labels in the grocery store now than I did when I was on weight watchers.

  • for those of you with a sweet tooth, try skinny cow truffle bars.  I just tried them last night - they're RIDICULOUSLY yummy (taste like fudgesicles!), take awhile to eat, and are 19g, which isn't that bad for an ice-cream type item.

    I've also become a really big fan of jello sugar free puddings!

    It sucks, but it's not that bad.  Of course ask me again a month from now, LOL Smile

  • I just got diagnosed last week. Moderation is good, I should watch my sugars anyway, this is a good lifestyle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, WHATEVER! This SUCKS! :)
  • What were your numbers? I had 134 for mine and while my OB says some other docs would call it GD, he is not. He just wants me to watch my over-all calorie intake...
  • aww jenn that sucks, but like the PP said, you will figure out what works best for you and your lifestyle. At first I felt overwhelmed, but once you figure out your good and bad foods and plan your meals according to your diet modifications it gets pretty easy!
  • Def feel your pain... was diagnosed last week and my bday is in 2 weeks and I am so bummed I can't have my bday cake... its a fam recipe I have had every bday my whole life... but I'll just have to celebrate after the baby is born... not feeling brave enough to go out to eat yet either so I had to cancel my dinner plans with all my friends. Oh well. Good luck.

  • My number for the fasting was 98 and then the 1, 2, and 3 hour ranged from 198-250.  She said I failed all of them.  SUPER!
